Honda S2000 SPOON Super Taikyu

I wanted to give you a look behind the curtain at the inspiration for my latest S2000 Project was a deep dive into spoon and JDM racing history .

The Origin: The 2000 Super Taikyu Icon

It all started with the Honda S2000 SPOON Super Taikyu. For many of us, this car is burned into our brains from the early Gran Turismo days. That iconic blue and yellow livery isn't just for show—it represents a peak era of Japanese endurance racing. I wanted to recreate that specific year-2000 grit and precision.

The Evolution: The 2001 "Best Motoring" Spec

While researching the original build, I went down a rabbit hole and found the 2001 version featured in an old Best Motoring video. Seeing the car in motion, hearing the high-RPM screams of the F20C, and noticing the subtle changes made for the 2001 season changed my perspective.

I decided to bridge the gap between that digital memory and the raw, analog footage from the VHS era to make this recreation as authentic as possible.
