Feedback required please :)
Hi everyone!
Due to some useful feedback recently, I have been thinking again about my content. I initially thought that I could balance the need for my own creativity and more conventional lesson type content all within my interactive videos. However I am starting to see that perhaps I need to split the two and offer both separately.
So, I am proposing that I continue to produce both types of content, but I am thinking that I will alternate between conventional landscape type tutorials one week and my interactive paintings the next and so on into the future.
Due to most people probably wanting to support my more conventional tutorials, I will only charge for these from now on. Therefore, if i only produce one of these types a month, then I will only charge to patrons one time. I will never charge patrons for more than two creations per month anyway, even if I produce several traditional tutorials in that month.
What do people think about this as a proposal??
Thanks
James

Hi James, Your youtube posts got me here and I find your videos very informative yet engaging as well. You have a strength in teaching which helps a lot. I am trying to get back into art and have invested in an Ipad Pro 12.9 and Pencil. This is a huge jump for me as I never really got into digital painting as I would have liked to. It's usually Graphite or Bero portraits lol. I hope to pick up on using colour and finally I think the iPad will enable me to do this. Hopefully I can somewhat do what you do. Once again thank you very much for the rekindling flair and hopefully I can finally do what I have always wanted. Look forward to sharing what I learn from everyone. I think what's important here is that you do what you enjoy and in that you'll find a following. Alternating sounds great. Perhaps you could always see what feedback you get and if you get any requests in terms of tutorials. What I would love to see is your work flow on how you create something and what brushes you tend to stick with. I guess it helps us fellow patrons to somehow figure out our own style and workflow.
Thank you so much for the comments Nurul, I hope you can forgive the delay in responding, I get a bit behind sometimes!
I think that's really fair
Thanks Bill 😊
I personally subscribed for the landscapes, but I'll support whatever you want to do. Alternating weeks seems like a good compromise between "what the people want" (if the majority of patrons want landscapes) versus taking care of yourself as an artist. I don't see any need to only "count" the landscapes, though I'm capped at a fixed monthly rate anyway :)
Thank you Mike really appreciate that 😊
I agree with everything that has been said above. Your interactive paintings are fascinating but there is a curious similarity to them. As a beginner I found I learnt a lot more from the direct tutorials. Any chance of a portrait tutorial. Keep up the good work - Saturdays are always an exciting day for me!
Thanks Adrian really appreciate the feedback! I guess my artist style makes them similar. I'll definitely focus more again on traditional tutorial content more. Glad to hear my videos are a regular event on your Saturday 😊
I'll also certainly continue to support whatever you decide James, but I like the idea of mixing it up between the two styles.
Thanks Piers! Again super appreciative of your support. Variety will keep everyone interested hopefully 😊
I like all of it, James. You do what you do and I'll keep supporting you.
Thanks Ed! You're a legend, really appreciate your support 😊
I think your plan is fine.
Thanks Bill! Appreciate the feedback
Since I totally enjoy your landscape tutorials, as well as learning the intricacies of [for example] creating flames/bubbles etc., I would benefit from more of those particular tutorials. Your proposed plan, therefore, sounds like the perfect solution. Thank you, James, for always thinking of your students as well as continuing to satisfy your creative expression !!!!
Thanks Laura, I'll move forward with this plan and I will mix in a variety of tutorials 😊
I am, admittedly, here primarily for the landscape tutorials.
That's good to know and I will do more!! :)
that would be a reason for me to join :) Will landscapes be your main thing, what about character design? thanks
Thanks Marcel. Well I would have to stick to what I most confident with and character design is not one of my strengths as of yet.
Sounds great. I really like your interactive paintings (they're super cool) but it's kinda hard for beginner like me to follow 😅 I would appreciate it if u could make more landscape tutorials 😀
Thanks Putri, yes I'm still figuring out what is best for my channel etc., so hopefully by doing both I can keep everyone happy :)
Sounds great, I come for the regular tutorials, mostly landscapes.
Ok thanks Martin! I shall double down my concentration on these then :)
Sounds great to me James 👍
Thanks Sandi :)
