Just had my most productive week ever, yet I still can't help but feel like I've let myself down. (dev update 05/19/26)
Hey, y'all!
This week was pretty crazy, as I managed to hit all my goals and even do 2-3x the amount of work I usually get done, but I'm still facing an extremely annoying and inconvenient bottleneck... and that's my hardware. When I mention my numbers in these dev updates, I only count the stuff that has already been rendered, and ignore everything that is sitting in my queue waiting to be rendered. Over time, especially during weeks where I go crazy on the animation side of things, the queue can grow to be unbelievably long due to these animations, which then makes the reported numbers on dev updates look tiny, and quite frankly pathetic. For example, this week I managed to pose ~275 images and 19 animations. How much of that was actually rendered? 225 images and 4 animations, and it only happened because I took a day off to actually let the PC catch up a little and render things out. I know the difference doesn't sound like much, but believe me when I say it adds up over time and gives me an unbearable feeling of guilt over not being fast enough.
I now realize that if I want to make these dev cycles go faster, I'm gonna need to make some sacrifices and survive off lentils and beans for a while, as I set money aside to get a second PC near the end of the month. I've always been against the idea of getting a second computer as the cost of electricity is fucking insane here, but I'll roll the dice and hope that it pays off in the long run.
Anyway, boo-hoo, no one cares about your rants, dweeb ass dev. What are the numbers?
We're currently sitting at 4,891 images, 164 animations, and a handful of crashouts over branching.
That's about it for this week.
Stay safe,
ily<3

I'll be honest here, I just started the season 1 of Westview Academy, and I really like it! Take care of yourself 👌🏽
Great work and thanks for your hard work bro
Yeah. I like this guy. He should be proud of himself.
Beans and lentils? Spoiling ourselves are we?
Hell yeah let's rendering! <3
One of us, One of us!
Do NOT trust this man, he is purchasing a STREAMING PC for Dark Souls 2 speedruns on Twitch
GOOD TUESDAY SUPER MORNING 🌛🌃, TAKO-YA AND EVERYONE!!! (1am) You're good, bro. We ALL KNOW how much work/time it takes to go into developing the game. I will happily pay for your food expenses. "SEND ME THE BILL 🤑!" A second computer will be a beneficiary. Lots of Devs have multiple computers 👍🏻! I care about the numbers 😅. I thought you were "THE" bum 😂? Kidding, kidding 🤣... Nice work on the numbers and helping out MF-MAYA 🤗. (You're an amazing person 😁) If you're crashing out over branching, you should go see other Devs 🤣. Nuketown 💥🤯! Also, go vote 🗳 for Tako-YA and WA (which I already did for all my Devs) for the GamestoryLog Award. Here's the link: https://gamestorylog.com/awards/2025 (You probably don't need to search for it since it's WA, but there will be lots of clicking, ESPECIALLY if you support many Devs like I do 🤣). As always, thanks for the Update, Tako-YA! Keep on keeping on 😉!!! ALWAYS EXCITED AND EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOUR GAMES AND READING YOUR POSTS 🙌🏻🔥!!! Love and appreciate everything! You ❤️, your ladies 🥰, your posts (always fun to read 😅), your previews/renders/Butt 💰 Shots 😘, and your game ❤️! Always make my days better 🌈!
