v0.23.1 Game Status: Chains

Evening all, it's mid-month update time!

This update features one new Seeder scene, however my Seeder work was interrupted by something a little different: chain duty assignments. Written by freelance writer Pyksies, these duty assignments are different from the normal one-off options in that they tell a mini-story entirely through assignments. These arcs will (generally) build up as they go and offer some decent rewards such as crew requisitions, before finally leaving a repeatable epilogue assignment which will join the usual pool.

A fair bit of work went into them for this cycle, with a bit of new code work required and 21 assignments being entered into the game, but I'm currently only about halfway through. There's still two sets each for Harians, Schen, and Happee waiting to be plugged in, so that's about thirty more which should be coming in the next update. I also need to do a little more functionality work there, including potentially visually marking them to make them stand out a little more in the list.

Aside from that, if you're a Liberator+ patron don't forget to vote in the species poll! Currently the Roth have a pretty commanding lead for the returning faction slot, but the slime/robot slot is quite a bit closer. You have ten days left to vote!

Game Functions:

• Functionality to support 'Chain Duties':

  • Chain Duties are Duty Assignments with mini-story arcs, with several assignments which progress in a set order.

  • The first set of assignments within a chain will progress the chain even if they fail, although they will not provide rewards.

  • The climax assignment in the chain will repeat until it has been completed successfully.

  • The final 'epilogue' assignment in the chain will be infinitely repeatable.

Scene Content:

• Fifth Seeder Civilian scene added, unlocked 20 hours following the fourth. Added to replay mode.

• Two 'anywhere' chain duty assignment sets added (10 duty assignments).

• Two Seeder chain duty assignment sets added (11 duty assignments).
