The Creature of Castorfield | September Update
It's the Creature of Castorfield September update!
We finally get to announce the third girl of our tormentor trio! You've met Mabel and Margaret before, but today we can show you Helen O'Brien. The Creature of Castorfield is kind of split into two times, where you're interacting with a lot of documents and reports on things that have happened already which is where a lot of the written and narrative parts of the game are presented, but in the present you get to "talk" to a few of the remaining inhabitants and that's where the other half of the story is presented.
Think of these three like Lady Dimitrescu's daughters, the three of them are always up to no good, and the Sheriff is trying to get to the bottom of it. The scene that we're working on at the moment is an introduction of these three characters. You will meet Mabel right as you arrive into town, as she's kind of the ringleader. Then later, you will find all three of them tormenting Rose Marino (who we've mentioned in recent updates) and after breaking up the confrontation they will release Rose into your custody because they've got a new plaything in mind: You.
Something must be in the water in Castorfield, as the women there aren't like any other women of that age. They are incredibly dominant, and with a silhouette you can see coming around a corner. In this small town with very few things to do, you can imagine their newest fascination will be strong when they finally meet you. You're a big, strong, manly, authority type, but how long will that last?
I know that last paragraph sounds like I'm rehearsing the body text of the steam page, but I'm just excited about the project.
These three are just a small part of the planned story for the game, We mentioned in a previous update that there's a spreadsheet that has data about all the occupants of Castorfield, and the three above are simply the youngest among them. There's currently about 70 inhabitants, past and present, and we want to walk a line between having enough characters to keep the mystery not immediately obvious, but not so many that it becomes exhausting to track mentally what's happening, and with the recently implemented journal mechanic that will help you keep track of the most important stuff we're hoping that it won't be too difficult to follow.
These three will be front and centre because they're trying to distract you from whats happening in the town, so if you find yourself succumbing to their torments, you might never get to meet the Creature of Castorfield...
