Patron Early Access and itch.io
I already mentioned this over on my dev blog (which you can find here if you aren't already checking for updates; I post every week!), but since it affects my Patrons, it feels like a good idea to announce it here, too.
I've switched the early access model on my itch.io page from 'pay per update' to 'pay once' early access. This means that any purchases that happen there for early access will give you early access to all future updates for Maids & Masters that release on itch.
So, what does this mean for Patrons?
For the most part, nothing changes. However, switching to this model allows me to do more with itch's system, with the most relevant example being that I'm able to provide keys for supporting me here. Patrons who exist in the higher tiers (Premier V.I.P. and up) should already have the option to claim an early access key, provided their itch and Patreon accounts are linked.
In addition to immediate early access keys for higher tiers, I also want to recognize Patrons who stay to support me over longer periods of time and provide keys for lifetime support. I'm not sure if itch's system recognizes lifetime support or only the monthly pledge amount, so if you're a Patron, you think you're over the $15 threshold for the itch.io purchase, and you're unable to claim a key, please message me. I'll be able to check your lifetime support, help guide you through the process, and if necessary, manually create a key for you to claim.

I just bought the early access game on itch.io. The .99cent mind manipulation of society must be defied! Normally I would change it to add a cent when I first pay, but since I forgot to change it before it was too late, I had to make absolutely sure I paid that extra cent! Even if it means I have to pay twice! So I paid 15.01 the second time! ❤️ I wonder why you use that type of price anyways, given that you don't seem to be a big corporation? Not sure why an average person would do it. Though, I suspect maybe it has something to do with Steam's oppression of prices that affects other markets outside of Steam? If you were ever considering trying to put the game on Steam one day (though, I'm fine and probably better off if you don't- because Steam is evil) Arietta of Spirits used to be an even $15.00 on itch.io but then they changed it to 14.99 slightly later after the game went up on Steam. When sold on Steam, developers don't get to choose the exact amount. Instead, it forces them to choose between various different amounts that all end in 99 cents. Don't refund my duplicate payment. I would feel unhappy if you did. Defying emotionally abusive corporations and keeping that defiance intact is much more important than spending less money. ❤️ (and btw, you have your settings a bit wrong, I think. although the "default" price is 15, you have the actually required price set as 12) ❤️
I just read your last few blog posts. It's good that you take care of your mental health and recognize that it matters. ❤️
