Commissions? In YOUR Patreon feed? It may be more likely than you expect.
If you read this week's blog post, you can skip to the poll at the end. This is mostly just a cross-post of that.
If you didn't, the TL;DR is that I've been kicking around the idea of offering commissions for a while, but haven't actually talked about it for two main reasons - my confidence in my skill level and the time commitment. Now that I've been doing this for five years, I'm significantly more skilled and more confident in my skills, which leaves time as the last obstacle.
It is quite the obstacle, as time spent rendering commissions is time that could be spent developing instead, but the economy being as rough as it is understandably leaves fewer people able to support me, and in situations where someone has to choose between paying a bill, feeding themselves, or giving me a few dollars, the last thing I want them to choose is giving me a few dollars. Commission work would open up a new possible revenue stream for me, and would give those who can afford it a means of supporting me while still getting something they want. Time commitment aside, that's pretty win-win.
I'm honestly still fairly torn on the idea, but that's why I'm making a poll about it.
This is mostly just an interest gathering poll. Available commission slots are likely to be limited so it doesn't have a large impact on game development (I certainly don't want to be stuck in a loop of clearing out my commissions just in time to be drowned in commissions all over again), and there's also the possibility of discounts being added to tiers as an extra benefit along with possible limitations and pricing, but before I give any of that any thought I need to know if there's any interest.
And as always, if you have any more complex thoughts than selecting a poll option can convey, get in the comments.

If they can't afford to buy one of your patreon tiers, why would they be able to afford to buy commissions from you instead? It seems like the two things would be roughly equal.
The idea isn't to get money out of people who don't have it. I don't appreciate the implication or your circumventing your ban. The idea is that if someone is already supporting me and would also buy commissions, they'd be able to. If someone isn't supporting me because they don't think the Patreon benefits are worthwhile to them but they can afford to, they can buy commissions instead. If someone outright can't support me for financial reasons, they shouldn't. That has always been and will remain my position on the subject.
