News Frequency Poll Results

Life has calmed back down, so I'm back to work as normal.

First, the poll results - not a lot of people voted, but those that did were in favor of continuing weekly posts, even if that means having the occasional "no news" post.

I don't want to get too doom-post-y about this, but the biggest reason I wanted to make a poll about this was because I have a conflict between the reality of doing game development as a job and how much of that reality is actual game development.

Especially now, as I inch closer to Maids & Masters v1.0, most of my time is spent coordinating with other developers, writing posts (like this one), promoting myself and my games, trying to find more of you lovely people who want to play the kind of games that I want to make, helping those of you who have questions and figuring out if the reason you're stuck is related to a bug or a poor design decision or if you're just regular "I don't get this part" stuck. Less and less of my time is spent on actual game development, which has led to feeling like I'm stagnating.

With recent events making it that much harder to get paid for all the work I'm putting in and not having the finances to be able to support my household as much as I'd like to, I don't think it will surprise anyone if I say I've been increasingly stressed out about life in general.

So, I've been putting a lot of thought into what I can change to fix that problem for myself, because I'm sure as hell not giving up.

The first thing I want to do is pivot a little on how I've been developing v0.23. The way I've been going about it has been steady, but slow, and it being slow has fed back into that feeling of stagnation. I also don't want to cut content - I've done enough of that already. Some things may still get cut for the sake of time, because I am dead set on Maids & Masters v1.0 releasing into early access this year, but if anything does get cut, it will be because I feel that content wouldn't have added anything of value.

What that means for right now is that MnM might not see an update until the end of the month while I figure out my angle of attack, but hopefully giving myself a change of pace will help me get past feeling stuck, and v0.23.3 will be a much larger chunk of content than v0.23.1 and v0.23.2 have been.

And if you have any thoughts about any of this - me as a developer, the content of v0.23.X, any bugs you might have found, how good Silksong is - feel free to leave a comment. I might interact a little less as I shift my focus toward the actual development part of game development, but I promise you I still read every word.
