Which Are The Real Photos of Spacecraft? They’re Out There and They’re Amazing
The internet. It gives us an instant connection to the sum of human knowledge, but it also lets misinformation travel at the speed of light. Everyday I get comments about how people will believe we’ve been to space after I show them evidence of actual spacecraft taken in space and not CGI mock-ups.
Challenge accepted. Here come a whole bunch of photos of spacecraft taken in space. Actually, I don’t really care if you believe it or not. I was just so excited about some of the fantastic pictures of spacecraft - taken by spacecraft - that I decided to dedicate a whole episode to it.

Fraser, sorry to trouble you, but I don't see any way to contact Patreon on their website. Anyhow, are my monthly pledges to you and others there deductible for income tax purposes? I figure you might know. Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
There must be some way to contact their support. But I don't think you can get your pledges as tax donations.
I know it's not spacecraft but recently I came across a real image of earth and moon system. I believe it was taken by JAXA's Hayabusa 2 satellite as it was approaching earth for gravity assist. It's 1 one of my favorite image taken in space. It even gives you an idea of how far the moon actually is.
That's awesome. I'm going to do an episode about real pictures versus artist's illustrations.
You SHOULD be very pleased with this one, Fraser. You were right. It’s a great video, easily one of the best so far!!! Very entertaining, and very cool seeing all of these shots/recordings of our crafts. My favorite part was when you talked about the transiting ISS. My dad’s coworker got an AMAZING shot of the ISS passing in front of the recent eclipse. I’ll email it to you! I’m definitely gonna start trying to use my binoculars to see the space station passing in front of the moon in the future.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. We worked pretty hard on it. :-)
Thanks for a great compilation, Fraser. There is plenty of footage on YouTube of the Skylab station, shot from the capsules sent up to dock with it and ferry astronauts for their missions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC1zmLgUjco
Yeah, I covered Skylab briefly, but I know, there's lots out there.
Thanks for the awesome, Fraser :) Although.. "the _some_ of human knowledge"?
Hah, nice catch, thanks!
My dog, Fraser! Super excited to watch this tonight.
I hope you enjoy it, I'm really happy with it.
