Can you tell me how to change your email synopsis to dark mode? The only reason I'm not signed up...thanks ;)

The story about excess lithium being found in a star that had eaten a planet sounds like it should be the plot of a sci-fi novel where a doomed civilisation on the eaten planet have to find a way off the planet and into space. Sort of like Next Generation Inner Light episode or perhaps 3 body problem TV series

I really hate the idea that the name for something has to be a perfect description of that thing. Like, let’s just take all the words in the Wikipedia article, and call it that.

Are we taking suggestions for better names for things? Maybe put the best suggestions in a poll?

I'll start, in the vein of "pedestrian" and "equestrian" we could use "astrestrian"?

If we can see planets through their clouds using a gravitational lens at 1000 X 1000 pixels, could we detect roads/civilization? Can space aliens on distant planets with even better telescopes someday see people here on Earth, walking, picnicking, loving on clear days? https://garywillkreie.com/track/4844172/long-as-stars-shine

Most civilisation stuff doesn't show at that 1000x1000 resolution of a planet, just enough to cause arguments, but nighttime city lights show up really well at that resolution, which is a tantalising thought.

How far away is a Gamma Ray Burst dangerous, presuming we are in the path of the jet?
