One big question not faced by science is how do alien races communicate. Can we assume they are limited to speech like us? All the indications are they use TELEPATHY. This has no limits of space and allows an entire nation to work on technical development. Hardly suprising they seem to be light years ahead of us!
Ok about Alient sending us "bad ideas"? Well we ALREADY do simulations of our machines before building it, so any "signal" coming in will be used in computer simulations before buiding a physical machine. But that only slows down the process of building if simulations cannot fnd a flaw. We are doomed either way. lol
What if the process of attempting to improve itself, AI does the opposite by writing worse and worse code for itself because of repeating small mistakes that snowball into bigger ones?
We’re already playing with fire regarding our atmosphere. Apparently someone sent capitalism to earth 🤷🏻♂️
Regarding the coming moment when AI models build and improve themselves, we are pretty much on the cusp of that today. Both Dario Amodei of Anthropic and Demi’s Hassabis of Google Deep Mind, are both reducing their time predictions to AGI from the end of the decade to a year or two from today…Amodei would likely tell us today that AGI will be within reach by the end of this year. My impression is that, of all the AI lead developers, these two are the only ones working hard to ensure that humanity benefits from the vast potential of AI rather than falling victim to its existential potential for harm to the entire Human race. I've yet to find the right place to ask a question for Q and A so I'll try this place. What would your personal reaction be if we see a huge fleet of ships coming our way to arrive in say twenty years. Then what would it be twenty years later when they by-pass Earth and occupy Mars, never once communicating with us, ever.
