[Space Bites+] Moon Landing Bottleneck // China Gaining // 11,000 New Rubin Asteroids
Here’s what might delay Artemis, New Glenn flies again, but there’s a problem, Voyager 1 has to shut down another instrument, Vera Rubin is finding so many asteroids. And in Space Bites+, an incredible image to celebrate Hubble’s 35th birthday.

20:20 Complexity of the interviews
Comments (18)
Don't just blame the plutonium for Voyagers running out of power. At launch the plutonium provided 470W of heat. Now it has dropped to around 320W. But the thermocouples converting this to electricity are also degrading, so this thermal energy is only converted to 230W of power, so losing another 100W.
There's no way the pace of the space suit determines launch date. Great space suits already exist. And by then, maybe we'll be sending droids that don't need a suit. They are already running marathons and doing dance moves and ninja moves in heavy gravity

Another vote for the advanced interviews. I love them and after 5 years of patreonage(?) I am totally up to speed.
Hi please consider excluding mechanical shutter noises from audio-only podcasts. Even better exclude all sound effects altogether, leaving your voice only.
I started pinging Ruben data and am building a viewer online for the things I'm interested in. I never would have thought to do that without this channel. Thanks, Fraser and team!
You’re doing fine on interview level.
In my opinion the interviews are the best content on Universe Today. Asking researchers directly about their new discoveries brings a wealth of information to your audience that isn't available anywhere else. I don't have time to watch all the question shows, but I try to make time for the interviews because they are really worth it.
100% agree with you on the interviews, btw. Ive actually stopped listening to the question shows, because I really do think that I've graduated from them: I think I know the answers to the questions that are posed, at least at the introductory level of what your response will be. So, great job!
Can we vote for the best story here rather than go to YouTube?
Thanks Fraser and crew, another great Space Bites.
No bonus story this week? I support Frasier on here on Patreon, but usually watch videos on YouTube because I have YouTube Premium and don't get ads there either. I figure I might as well earn Fraser a tiny bit of extra revenue, but mostly that's because I tend to watch Fraser's videos when they are suggested by the algorithm. (All Hail the Almighty Algorithm) But I don't just rely on YouTube suggestions. I have the videos tabs/pages bookmarked of my favorite creators so I can always find them. Anyway, is Fraser no longer doing bonus Space Bytes stories on Patreon? That would make my watching easier as I won't have to jump over here towards the end.
In China I've seen that Engineers have sway over lawyers. In the US the situation is reversed.
It is not possible for every article and every interview to explain every term and concept for those who are just beginning their journey into astronomy. That’s an issue that mainstream media has to contend with on every story they present to the general public. Universe Today has several layers of content for each level of understanding. It *is* up to reader to educate themselves using the Universe Today’s (and other’s) vast libraries of content to learn what they need to know to be able to follow and learn from any specific article or video. You get out of anything as much as you put into it.
Was there meant to be no bonus story for this Space Bites+? I'm just concerned because there was also no bonus segment in the Interview+ with Dr. Chiara Mingarelli. I hope everything is alright behind the scenes.
I love the complexity of the interviews. there's def stuff that I don't understand in there, but you need some of that in order to also het the breakthrough "oooh, now I get that/understand that more deeply" that are so valuable
I value the complexity of your interviews! I would be very disappointed if you dumbed down the content. Thank you for your work
your level is great Fraser!!! keep on askin'...
