[Interview+] Building LISA, Humanity's Biggest Telescope
Gravitational waves revolutionised Astronomy. But LIGO, VIRGO and KAGRA only operate in one spectrum. To detect longer waves we need bigger telescopes. Much bigger. Ones that don't fit on Earth. That is where LISA comes in, which will be humanity's biggest telescope.

🤯 Very interesting and you nailed the audio recover 👌 thanks for not scrapping this interview due to audio.
By you I mean Anton 😅 great job with the audio.
This is an absolutely fascinating interview! thanks to Anton for the audio cleaning & to Fraser for picking such interesting subjects & people to interview!
LISA is to me the most interesting mission currently being worked on. Can't wait for all the "multi-band" astronomy it will enable.
Fantastic interview, great subject, wonderful Prof. Femto-g has to be the new baseline comparison for anything.
WOW🙏🕉🌠
chipmunk Frasier!!! Love it!
Anton did a very good job on the audio. You sound fine, except for the brief glitches at 29:45, 35:17 and 51:04. I feel Anton's pain. Back in 2014 I attended a marvelous seminar at the UNC Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, and was horrified to discover that they were not going to record it. So I grabbed the center seat in the front row, and propped my phone on the chair beside me, and recorded the audio. Then I got the slides from the speaker, and laboriously combined the two, to make a video. Cleaning up the audio was the hardest part. The result was far from perfect, but still usable. (It's on my youtube channel.) Out of curiosity, I checked the YouTube version of your video, and the three glitches are not present. They are only in the Patreon copy. Fascinating interview!
BTW, Fraser, I'm curious about what tools Anton used to clean up the audio. Back in 2014 I first used Audacity's Noise Reduction and Amplification effects, but the result had very jarring exaggerated S-sounds whenever an "S" was spoken. So then I used the Spitfish de-esser Plug-In to reduce the S-sounds. I'll bet there are better tools, now.
Stay amazing team!
How much fuel will Lisa have to carry in each satellite to keep them lined up? Are they being designed to be refueled? Thanks!
The cleaned up audio makes you sound 20y younger haha. (On my phone it sounds ok, good work on the cleanup) Thanks for the great interviews Fraser and team.
