[Space Bites+] Earth in a Void // Ancient Stellar Flyby // Resonance with Uranus

Is the Earth at the center of a giant void? Did a star fly through the Solar System billions of years ago messing up the orbits of some objects? Comet 3i/ATLAS is the oldest comet ever seen. Look at the picture to celebrate the third anniversary of Webb. And in Space Bites Plus, covering a crater on the moon with a concrete dome to build a pressurized habitat.

Hi Fraser, So we see the sun as yellow here on earth. Do the astronauts on the space station see it as white? Are there any really bright good pictures you’d recommend I look for? Thanks in advance.

Hey Fraser. Can you plz do an interview or point me to an interview you've done or a Universe Today article that details answers to my questions of gravity? I just started watching Zoe's recent video on gravity, just at the Level 1 - "gravity is a force" which of course I know is not true and I'm right away remembering my Qs about gravity. 1) how does gravity bend the path of massless photons? Been explained many times but I can't seem to grasp it (specifically cannot remember the explanation cuz it jives with my internal understanding of gravity requiring mass) F=M1xM2/d is clearly 0 when one mass is zero 2) How do astronomers take into account the change in the speed of *time* due to all the differing gravity wells when they calculate things like expansion rate of dark energy, dark matter and distances... Do photons and other kinds of information waves/fields change in speed/etc as they travel the universe passing by all these gravity wells? Accounted for in cosmological models? Cuz since Einstein's theory of relativity is still our best theory of gravity, then time requires gravity... With lower levels of gravity then isn't time slower or something? 2.b) how do we experience time differently when we are different distances from Earth, on our way to Mars (is it almost unchanged due to the Sun's gravitational pull being Sol's biggest gravity/time influencer? If so, then how about when we are between stars, not traveling at relativistic speeds. Thanks!

For your question 1, in Einsteinian physics, gravity is not a typical force, rather, it is an effect that bends spacetime. Your massless photon travels in a straight line through curved space.

If we send a telescope out to create a SGL, will it be dedicated to a single target, or can we redirect it to view other targets and how long would it take to change targets?

It's fine to watch here on Patreon, but the reason it isn't so convenient is because this isn't the only channel I enjoy! I have 200+ subscriptions on YouTube that I watch and being able to scroll and select on a single feed is great, while having to come to Patreon to watch the one extra is a hassle. 🤷‍♂️

Quality video. :) Enjoyed this one.

Don't understand how they could have put their low error bars before considering density variations.

I think the little mismatch in vacuum energy between quantum mechanics and cosmology deserves the label crisis more.

My dictionary defines crisis as “a time of trouble or danger”. Perhaps scientists should stick to unemotional words like conundrum or quandary. Good advice I was once told: “Beware the unnecessary use of hyperbole; when you need it, it will no longer be effective.”
