[Q&A+] Vera Rubin & Planet 9 SPECIAL | Q&A 334
Will there be a northern hemisphere version of Vera Rubin? Or maybe we can put one straight in space? Can Vera Rubin detect alien spacecraft if they ever visit? And if it finds planet 9, how fast will we be sending a mission there? And in Q&A+, how many planets will be out there if we reinstate Pluto as one? Answering all these questions and more in this Q&A show.

Did Fraser say Vera Rubin would probably be the space craft that found them (alien spacecraft if they exist)? I thought Vera Rubin was a ground telescope in the south hemisphere hmm, I must be as tired as I feel.
Are ephemeris ephemeral?
Fraser, I think the best way to appease the Pluto4lyfe crowd is to just talk about how different sciences have different definitions. Astronomers say we have 8 planets. Cool. They also say that lithium on up are all metals. But ask a geologist or a metallurgist and you'll get different answers
At a 2006 meeting of the International Astronomical Union voted to classify Pluto as a dwarf planet.
Yep, anything in Hydrostatic equilibrium should be called a planet. Then we have.. Primary Planets, those orbiting the Sun Planetary Moons, those orbiting another planet Orphaned Planets, free floating planets Planetary binaries. Like Pluto-Charon Simple. Can we all agree on that? LOL
Suppose planet 9 is a lump of dark matter, will that be a disappointment?
Whenever someone gets mad about Pluto, I start telling them about all the Dwarf Planets and why they're so interesting.
Not sure if anything is going on, but I hope you're doing ok Fraser.
Why, did something happen?
Got it. So Pluto is a planet then.
Pluto is an object that orbits our star, the Sun. There are literally millions of objects orbiting the Sun. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to name them all. ;-)
Appreciate your channel! Cracking stuff xx
