[Space Bites+] A THIRD Interstellar Object // Pack of Quasars // Tianwen-2 Looks Back
Astronomers have discovered a third interstellar object. NASA missions are getting prepared to be shut down. The most massive white dwarf has been found. And in Space Bites Plus, a capsule containing human remains and cannabis seeds crashes into the ocean.

Frasier…. What you do is amazing and I have a lot immense respect for you! Unfortunately if you allow politics into your channel, everyone loses. I know you feel like you’re just giving the news about the budget cuts but everyone, right now, are so polarized and looking for a platform to complain on. Don’t give them one. just keep reporting on science.
Reporting on the science will include reporting on mission cancellations. I've reported on mission cancellations for 26 years, through many administrations, and I'll continue doing it. The political discussion are a natural response, especially when the mission cuts seem ideologically motivated. If you support the administration, but disagree with this policy, you should let your representatives know. The reverse was true during the cuts to space exploration and planetary science during the Obama Administration.
Hi Frazer. Is there any news regarding the proposed ODINUS joint mission to Uranus and Neptune?
There's no news. Existing missions are being cut, both operational and planned, so I wouldn't count on any new missions for a while.
Question - Is possible that in the near future NASA or an other group might fund spacecraft that could exist in orbit, ready to 'chase down' future objects on hyperbolic, interstellar trajectories through our solar system? I realise the fuel and delta-v implications on 'chasing down' would mean considerable cost for such a mission, but the scientific worth could be there.
Ohh I really like this channel :)
At 10:49 you say that "the white dwarf cools down to the ambient temperature of the universe" - I don't think that is correct, white dwarfs (dwarves?) are typically 10,000 - 100,000 K, but do cool down very slowly over billions of years, it's not part of the initial death of the star
Surely any object, irrespective of starting temperature, will eventually cool to the ambient temperature of the Universe?
I really hope they somehow sell Chandra, Juno and New horizons to anyone who'd do science with them instead of just abandoning them :(
But who would buy them?
