New Question (Vera Rubin): Could the recently discovered spiral in Oort Cloud simulations — as seen in the Hayden Planetarium show — combined with Vera Rubin’s comet data, help test MOND vs General Relativity, given the Oort Cloud lies in the low-acceleration regime where their predictions diverge?

There is ultimately only one reason to do what you do, because you want to and you can. It’s your passion. Those of us who listen share your passion. Those who don’t shouldn’t. You need no further justification. Keep up the good work. 👍

Are all the people complaining about space science "instead" of earth work doing anything about it themselves? Even contributing to organisations or people doing some about it, or campaigning in the right places to make a difference (not moaning here), outside whatever their taxes do (without their knowledge, perhaps)? Guessing not.

we just watched Q&A Galactic Navigation, People Born on Mars... Didn't see our name on the patreon list. it's okay, but we'd like to get back on there if we're off! Thank you!

Hi. The video you are referring to is from March 14th 2025, which looks like it was produced before you joined. The lists are baked into the video, so we cannot change them once they are released. I checked, you are present in the list in all the latest videos (like the one above as well as in recent Q&As or interviews). So, don't worry we got you :) And thanks for your support ☺️

Thanks, Fraser, very good video. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially your rant. Keep up the good work. Concerning terraforming Mars, it’s a pipe dream. Too small, no moon , no means of producing a magnetosphere. It’s just a ploy for Elon to secure billions in grants from governments, specifically from the US.

Question - in the picture of Perseverance being photo-bombed, where is the camera? Shouldn’t we be able to see the arm of the camera in the picture?

17:32 is the bonus story about near Venus asteroids

I though the interview about transpiration cooling was very good, but the terraforming Mars was nonsense firmly in the realm of science fiction. On a positive note Fraser it's a good that people comment on your interviews even if, like me, they rubbish them, it means they're watching them and have engaged their interest.

loved those two interviews! it's so fun when things go from 'this is clearly so beyond our current scope' to 'here's an idea that's possibly feasible'

You know Peter? He's cool. We game (D&D when he's at GenCon [unfortunately not this year].

How about if we took all the money and resources used for "high fashion" and cosmetics and used that to feed the poor? How much was spent on clothes for the Met Gala? How many African villages would that feed? How many dental visits for the poor here in the USA? Y'all Canucks (is that derogatory? If so, sorry!) get something of a pass on that.

I thought both of those interviews were great, but I do wonder if something contributing to the negative comments on your interviews about terraforming Mars and transpiration cooling is the influence of people's negative perceptions of a certain prominent individual whose long term goals are dependent on both of those two specific technologies. Have you noticed a similar thing on other interviews?

I
Ian Cooper · May 31, 2025

I agree, Elon should stick to playing with his rockets not going on about "multi-planetary species".

J
James Geckle · May 30, 2025

F-man, I wonder sometimes whether the impulse to comment is inversely proportional to that individual’s worthiness to bloviate. ✌️

The first time I have seen that word used in an actual sentence. Thumbs up! I know it from crosswords which I have used for years to improve my English since it is not my native language.
