[Space Bites+] Cancelling Roman Telescope // Big Biosignatures Update // Spinning Universe
We’ve got more details about upcoming NASA cuts, the first evidence of life on an exoplanet? is the entire Universe spinning? how global warming could reduce room for satellites, and in our free Patreon edition of Space Bites+, a new way to search for life as we don’t know it.

Even if there is DMS, they'll still have to rule out geological proce...er, never mind.
FYI Fraser, I’m not sure if you intended to, but the Apple Podcast feed has stopped for some reason… maybe just for me?
Bonus story is at 23:18.
I looked online and found Hycean is pronounced “Hi-Shun”, there you go. I looked online and found Hycean is pronounced “Hi-see-un”, there you go. I looked online and found Hycean is pronounced “Hi-sheen”, there you go. I am going with “Fred”. shrug
I always assumed the Universe was rotating
Spinning Universe? Spinning in relation to what? 🤯
Another effect of climate change that's easily dealt-with by using more fossil fuels and continuing to have a technologically-advanced civilisation.
Ah, you are the reason for the cloudy nights! Should've known...
I have an s50 also. Easy setup. Lot's of fun. Now I need to learn about stacking, etc.
This administration simply doesn’t want any progress in astronomy or science in general. My money is now on China.
The budget cuts will possibly impact the Habitable World Observatory as well.
The cuts are nuts. $5bn is a rounding error to the USA & the fact all the work on these projects are on the block is bonkers. To be honest, JAXA, UKSA, and ESA should just get together and give NASA the $5 bil if it came to it.
A little bummed that as you were talking about planetary nebulae, you showed an animation of the crab nebula exploding, which is a supernova. C'mon now...
That's my fault
Wow, sad with the potential cuts 😢
It’s just a stupid move to make!😡
I don't remember if you had a story about this citizen scientist project yet (I only remember spending some time on a website to circle moon craters): gameifying moon crater identification to help future landers not tipping over: https://blogs.esa.int/exploration/gaming-to-the-moon/ (The game is... hmmm... but the feedback when annotating "new" images, seeing where everyone else saw one and even when you crater isn't accepted in realtime, but that then shifts over time by majority voting or scientific annotation is somewhat rewarding) :-D
It surely will be heartbreaking, when the official cuts are published.
That’s Kurt “Girdle”, respecting the umlaut.
In a non-rhotic accent, which he obviously doesn't have, it is.
