[Q&A+] Dying Moon Landers, Gravitational Waves from Betelgeuse, Farthest Galaxies | Q&A 309
Why don't moon landers just heat themselves to live through the lunar night? Will Betelgeuse's explosion cause a lot of gravitational waves? Is it even theoretically possible to accelerate close to the speed of light? And in our free bonus question on Patreon, what is my dream space mission? Answering all these questions and more in this Q&A show.

I absolutely love the interviews. When I am at home I watch the question shows, the news etc on video here. And I like to listen to the interviews and AstronomyCast in my headphones when I'm at work
Thanks for the shout out! 🖖
Missed opportunity to plug this weeks astronomy cast with the dark energy quest.
Not caring is the best. I fully support you Fraser. I am glad you are fulfilled by following your own passions and that you are loved and successful for doing great work on your passions 👍 Kinda the only real way to live. To not care. To care only about what is your own interests.
I absolutely love your work. Give me a couple months to sort my finances and I'll be able to chip in more.
Is it possible to accelerate close to the speed of light? Yes if you turn your spacecraft into a stream of photons! Otherwise no.
Photons travel at the speed of light, close to the speed of light doesn't require infinite energy so there is no reason that a tiny probe with a laser sail can't get to ridiculous speeds. The laws of physics say it's fine, difficult but not impossible. No infinite energy required.
