[Q&A+] Nearby Rogue Planets, Beaming Power from Space, Solar Sail Propulsion | Q&A 308
Could rogue planets float in space between us and the Alpha Centauri system? Will the Chinese be beaming power from a space station to Earth? Will solar sails be used for propulsion in our lifetime? And in our free bonus question on Patreon, how do Lagrange points work for different planets and moons? Answering all these questions and more in this Q&A.

Cost of mass to orbit and beyond is coming down quickly (thank you SpaceX!). I wonder if a light sail would be more economically powered by a space based laser - no atmosphere to interfere with it 🤔
I think it would be foolish to beam power to Earth from space. You would be essentially increasing the amount of heat into a closed system. It would only increase global warming. Solar panels on earth are converting energy from the sun that has already entered the system. They create no additional heat.
Not a tiny channel but worthy of attention is MarsGuy. He's a geologist who follows Mars missions, especially Perseverance, in depth while providing context.
Shout out to Astronomy Before The Telescope! I think this audience would love this channel.
I like the channel “does it fly” with Dr Hakeem Oluseyi, they go through popular sci fi and explain why or why it doesn’t fly with real life physics. A PhD with less than 1k subscribers
The counter to dyson sphere outside earth orbit warming earth is a solar collection shade sail at L1 blocking sunlight and making energy for space use. 1% solar blocking array at L1 is ~12km in diameter, which might be possible within the next century.
Fraser, could you please explain what is a difference between point singularity of non-rotating black hole and ring singularity for a rotating Kerr black hole.
