I am uncertain about the Nova in Corona Borealis this year. When you look at the (I think it was) 80 years or so, that this cycle takes, this Nova will happen in a few years, but this was never a strict cycle and the observations along the centuries show that there would be a possibility that it could happen now. The reason why last September was advocated was, that a scientist had found some light dipping in the data in the year (or a couple of years) prior to its Nova state and so he predicted this event to happen last year. Since this didn‘t happen, I see the chances of it happening this year quite slim and would assume, that it will happen along its usual timeframe. 🤔
The ideals of preventing Earth contaminating Mars “at all costs” is completely dependent on participation by *all* parties involved. The moment a nation or private enterprise is able to journey to Mars without those concerns, the contamination will become inevitable and irreversible. Not if but when. And then likely everyone will throw in the proverbial towel.
