The problem with robot silicon life being the future is it has greater susceptibility to EMPs and static than biological life. It maybe the future is more like the archetypal Greys/Zetas! Cloned biological AI robots!
We are always seemingly of the assumption that the alien has all our senses. What if it is deaf...or even blind. It might be vastly more advanced than us in a different way...however unaware of the cosmos!

Frazier, are you going to interview someone who is favor of generational ships to reach distant objects in the solar system?
I am against the use of generational ships. Only the initial generation has a choice about it. The following generations will essentially be slaves. There would be very specialized fields that would be assigned to future generations and even procreation would have to be done in a controlled manner to keep genetic diversity proper and the population in check. But, I think the topic is very interesting.
Now you have me really thinking hard about SETI. I took your advice and have started listening to the audiobook “Three Body” which is really twisting my mind. For many years I had contributed many CPU hours to the data analysis of SETI. And I thought I knew myself to be aligned with cosmology in a very scientific way. Now I must question our species and its constant political battles. Are we worthy of sharing yourselves with others across the galaxy?
I think Dr. Impey was onto something there with his final quip. But don’t just have an AI design the message to these presumptive aliens. Have our AI design the ideal message for talking to an alien AI, and let the alien AI inform the aliens of our intentions. Just a hunch but it seems more probable that Artificial Intelligences spread across the galaxy have more communication commonality with each other than the vast array of independently evolving sentient species they service. Assuming there’s anyone out there to chat up to begin with (which I highly doubt).
