Love this postmission synopsis and commentary. Please keep doing it
I'm just happy to have lived long enough to see a giant rocket ascend to space and return mostly in one/two pieces. IFT-4 has shown that the dream of a fully reusable rocket is within the bounds of possibility but whether it is ever really practical is another matter. What's next? Elon dons a Dan Dare costume?
Perhaps they can reinforce the hinges with Titanium or an alloy. I think seeing the hot spots as they appeared will actually help engineers better understand where they need to add such reinforcing features. Also, I remember learning during a documentary on the WTC on 911 that steel will actually burn. It will become fuel for fire under certain conditions. Whatever those conditions are, I sure they were met going by how that flipper disintegrated. Woosh!
