Why White Dwarf Stars Unexpectedly Stop Cooling Down
White dwarf stars should be cooling down practically till the end of the Universe. But yet, they don't. They stop cooling at some point. Why does this happen? Figuring out the answers with Dr Simon Blouin from the University of Victoria.

thanks for the recent geophysical interviews!
It's curious what happens to everyday elements when subject to immense pressures and temperatures, white dwarfs are like mad science experiments going on all around us! Dr. Blouin's final comment about turbulent mixing in red giants is interesting. Does this mean that more helium can be fused and the red giant phase last longer? Perhaps the "furious boiling" of Betelgeuse isn't a sign that the end is nigh?
