Complete List of Real-Debrid's Filename Filters
Update, 14 October 2026
Real-Debrid has changed this filter again. WEB-DL, WEB.x264 and WEB.H264 are now refused only when written exactly like that, so web-dl, Web-Dl, WEB.h264 and other capitalizations of them go through. The other eight, WEBRip, BDRip, HDRip, DVDRip, HDTV.x264, HDTV.XviD, BluRay.x264 and p.BluRay.DTS (as in 1080p.BluRay.DTS), are still refused however they are capitalized. DMM already follows the new rule, and zurg does from its 14 October nightly build. The full current list is below.
Under both rules the separator has to match exactly, so WEB-Rip, HDTV-XviD and BluRay-DTS go through.
Update, 10 October 2026
Real-Debrid has changed this filter again. On 3 October it had shrunk to five strings that only counted in one exact capitalization. By 10 October the full list from the original report below was back. Upper and lower case no longer matter, and 1080p.BluRay.DTS is on it too. I re-tested it with 102 fresh torrents and 12 file links, then 112 more torrents and 10 more file links the same afternoon to pin down the DTS rule. Every torrent was built over new random data, so only its name could decide the result. Here is everything that applies now.
What gets refused
RD refuses a name that contains any of these eleven strings, anywhere in the name:
WEB-DL, WEB.x264 and WEB.H264, only written exactly like that
WEBRip, BDRip, HDRip and DVDRip, in any case
HDTV.x264, HDTV.XviD and BluRay.x264, in any case
BluRay.DTS, in any case, but only with a resolution right before it, like 1080p.BluRay.DTS or 2160p.BluRay.DTS-HD. Scene REMUXes like Phone.Booth.2002.BluRay.DTS-HD.MA.5.1 have the year there instead and go through, and so do REMUX.BluRay.DTS and BluRay.1080p.DTS.
Upper and lower case matter for the three WEB strings only. web-dl, Web-Dl, WEB-dl, WEB.X264, Web.x264, web.H264, Web.H264 and WEB.h264 all go through, so scene releases tagged WEB.h264, from groups like GRACE, ETHEL and EDITH, are accepted again. For the other eight case makes no difference: webrip, WEBRIP, bdrip, hdrip, dvdrip, hdtv.x264, HDTV.xvid, bluray.x264, BLURAY.X264 and 1080p.bluray.dts are all refused.
The separator has to match. WEB.DL, WEBDL, WEB DL, WEB_DL, WEB-Rip, BD-Rip, HD-Rip, DVD-Rip, BluRay-x264, BluRay-DTS, WEB-x264, WEB-h264, HDTV-x264, WEB H264 and HDTV x264 all go through.
It is a plain match anywhere in the name, so WEB-DLRip, PreDVDRip, [WEBRip 1080p] and "1080p WEBRip DDP5 1" are all refused, and the file extension makes no difference.
Where RD checks
RD checks two different names, at two different moments.
Adding a torrent: only the torrent's own name counts. A season pack with a clean name is accepted even if the episodes inside, or a folder inside it, are called WEB-DL.
Opening a file's download link: each file's own name counts. Those WEB-DL episodes download fine, but their links are refused with the same infringing_file error, while the clean files next to them play normally.
Everything else I tested goes through
Other source and codec pairs: BluRay.h264, BluRay.XviD, BluRay.AVC, BluRay.x265, HDTV.h264, HDTV.H264, HDTV.H.264, HDTV.x265, WEB.H.264, WEB.XviD, WEB.AVC, WEB.DivX, WEB.x265, WEB.H265
x264 after any other source: BRRip, PDTV, HDTVRip, Blu-Ray, BD, AMZN, NF, CAM, HDCAM, TELESYNC, HDTS
XviD after DVD, DVDScr, PDTV and TS
REMUX and UHD tags: BluRay.REMUX.AVC, BluRay.REMUX.HEVC, BDRemux, UHD.BluRay
Audio tags: DTS-HD.MA, TrueHD, DD5.1, DDP5.1, AAC, AC3, and DTS anywhere except right after a resolution and BluRay, like 1080p.BluRay.DTS
Tracker and group tags: [EZTVx.to], [TGx], YTS.MX, [rarbg], www.1TamilMV, RARBG, YIFY, PSA, QxR, FLUX
When a clean name is refused
RD also sometimes refuses every add on an account for up to a few minutes. It usually happens after the account has added several new torrents in a row, and it answers with the same infringing_file error. If a name with none of the strings above is refused, wait a few minutes and add it again.
Original report (May 2026)
RD went back to this list in October 2026. The one difference is DTS right after a resolution and BluRay, like 1080p.BluRay.DTS, which this report missed and which is refused too. As of 14 October, WEB-DL, WEB.x264 and WEB.H264 count only when written exactly like that, so the lowercase WEB.h264 releases below go through again.
I tested several thousand scene releases against Real-Debrid's torrent upload filter to map exactly which filename patterns trigger the "infringing_file" rejection (error_code 35). It took so much time so any credit would be nice.
Here's the complete report.
TL;DR
Two types of filename patterns cause blocks:
Type 1: Five substring matches (case-insensitive, anywhere in the filename):
web-dl, webrip, bdrip, hdrip, dvdrip
Type 2: Source.Codec dot-adjacency matches (case-insensitive, must be dot-separated and adjacent):
BluRay.x264, HDTV.x264, HDTV.XviD, WEB.x264, WEB.h264
Real-world impact: 56 out of 165 current releases from PirateBay tested are blocked (~34%).
═══════════════════════════════════════
RULE 1: Substring Matches
If the filename contains any of these five strings (case-insensitive), the torrent is rejected immediately:
web-dl
webrip
bdrip
hdrip
dvdrip
Properties:
• Case-insensitive: WEBRip, Webrip, WEBRIP, WeB-dL - all blocked
• True substring match: WEB-DLRip, PreDVDRip blocked (they contain the pattern)
• Extension doesn't matter: .mp4, .mkv, .avi all checked
• Works with spaces: "1080p WEBRip DDP5 1 x264" blocked
• Works inside brackets: [WEBRip], [BDRip] blocked
Blocked real-world examples:
Euphoria.US.S03E05...AMZN.WEB-DL...H.264-FLUX
Project Hail Mary (2026) [1080p] [WEBRip] [5.1]
Apex.2026.1080p.NF.WEBRip.DD5.1.x265.6CH-SupaCvnt
═══════════════════════════════════════
RULE 2: Source.Codec Dot-Adjacency
When a source tag and codec tag appear dot-separated and directly adjacent, certain combinations are blocked. The check is case-insensitive.
Key observations:
• Only x264, h264, and XviD are blocked - never x265, h265, HEVC, AV1, or AVC
• Only BluRay, HDTV, and WEB trigger blocks - not Blu-Ray, BD, HDTS, Telesync, PDTV, CAM, TS, REMUX, or any streaming service tag
• HDTV.h264 is NOT blocked despite HDTV.x264 being blocked (asymmetry)
• Blu-Ray.x264 passes but BluRay.x264 is blocked (the hyphen breaks the match)
• Streaming service tags (NF, AMZN, DSNP, ATVP, HMAX, CR, BILI) never trigger blocks in any combination
Blocked real-world examples:
The.White.Lotus.S03E04.1080p.WEB.h264-EDITH
Venom.The.Last.Dance.2024.1080p.WEB.H264-HiggsBoson
Squid.Game.S02E02.1080p.WEB.H264-SYLiX
Late.Night.with.Seth.Meyers.S12E119.1080p.HDTV.x264-SYNCOPY
═══════════════════════════════════════
REAL-WORLD IMPACT BY CATEGORY
All WEBRip bracket releases - blocked
Zootopia 2, Hoppers, Faces of Death, etc. - every [WEBRip] release fails
All WEB-DL releases - blocked
AMZN, NF, DSNP, ATVP, HMAX, PMTP, iT, MA, TEN WEB-DLs all fail
All .WEB.h264 scene releases - blocked
GRACE, ETHEL, EDITH groups
All .WEB.H264 releases - blocked
HiggsBoson, SYLiX groups
All .HDTV.x264 releases - blocked
SYNCOPY group

WHAT'S SAFE
These formats pass the filename filter with no issues:
Codecs: x265, h265, HEVC, AV1, AVC (in any source combination)
Sources: Blu-Ray (hyphenated), BD, HDTS, Telesync, PDTV, CAM, TS, REMUX, DCP
Tags: All resolution tags (720p, 1080p, 2160p, 4K)
Tags: All audio tags (AAC, DDP, DTS, Atmos, TrueHD, FLAC), except DTS right after a resolution and BluRay, like 1080p.BluRay.DTS
Tags: All HDR tags (HDR, HDR10, DV, DoVi)
Tags: All season/episode formats (S01E01, Season 1, etc.)
Tags: All streaming service tags (NF, AMZN, DSNP, ATVP, HMAX, CR, etc.)
Tags: All scene group names tested (no group name alone triggers a block)
Real-world example:
Sinners.2025.2160p.MA.WEB-DL => blocked (contains web-dl)
BUT the same content as:
Sinners.2025.2160p.BluRay.x265-GROUP => safe
Sinners.2025.2160p.WEB.h265-GROUP => safe

The new "RD Blocked" feature on the DMM library page is great, thank you. Unfortunately, it is not completely accurate with the items is lists as blocked. As I have gone through the listed items, I find there are some listed items which are not actually blocked. This is not a complaint, just as observation. I wrote a script which goes through my locally mounted directory & tests each file. Then it writes to a text file a list of the files which do not resolve with the expected information. At least two thirds of the mounted torrents fail.
What is this "RD Blocked" feature? I can't see anything like that.
with proven blocked filenames, can we get feature to remove/filter out these from dmm/library? imagine if we had instead of plain filenames with tags just hash/code ... infringing string of letters :D, and player/middle man zurg translating it
So, question. Where to from here? Try to add these to release blocklists and see how it goes?
Exactly what I was thinking
