Why Did I Start Making Sims Content?

I've been re-evaluating a lot in my life lately. When I started making Sims content 5 years ago, I was in a different space. I transitioned away from beauty and lifestyle content and leaned further into gaming content because I hated how I looked on camera. I was very sick at the time and it took 2 surgeries and 2 years for me to fully recover. The Sims was an escape from my reality of pain and suffering. Being able to share my Sims gameplay with people who enjoyed the game helped me fight against the depression and anxiety I was dealing with at the time. Being a Sims content creator is something that changed my life for the better and for that, I'll always be grateful.

Who Is "The Sarah O."?

I've been thinking about who I am a lot lately. Don't we all? When you search "The Sarah O." on YouTube or any social media platform, my Sims videos are usually the first things you see. I'm forever grateful for how many people I've taught and entertained with my Sims content along the way. However, "The Sarah O." is not just a Simmer. I created "The Sarah O." as a personal brand that would include all aspects of my life. Not just gaming but beauty, life, dating, friendships, relationships, existing as a Black lesbian, being an immigrant, you name it. While I love the Sims, I have to move away from the content I used as a shield. I want y'all to get to know the real me and learn more about who I am, not just the Sims I play with.

Moving Forward…

I will still be making Sims content! I’m hoping to expand the kinds of content I release and learn more about mods, custom content, and overrides.

The biggest change will be showing my face and consistently sharing more details about my life, sexuality, and personal thoughts on my Patreon. If you follow me on Instagram or TikTok, you’ve already seen me do this plenty of times. However, I want my Patreon to become more of the behind-the-scenes of “The Sarah O.”. I want to give y’all the tea that I can’t share on social media and the real insider scoop on who I am as Sarah. Not just “The Sarah O.”. Being vulnerable with y’all will be a new experience for me but I’m challenging myself to do new things scared. I want to be more than just a Simmer to people. I want y’all to see me as a person first, Simmer second.

I’ll be sharing more videos featuring myself starting this week. I have plenty of videos that I’ve never posted on Patreon that I want to share here. Sorry if you’ve already seen it, you’re about to see it again lol. A lot of my personal content moving forward will be about my life experiences, beauty + lifestyle content, living life as a Black lesbian, and anything else that pops up in my mind to share.

I know a lot of you are only following for Sims content and I’m forever grateful for that! I will still be sharing Sims content on Patreon. I just want “The Sarah O.” to finally reflect who I am as a person, not just as a gamer. If you don’t like these changes, no hard feelings at all if you’d like unsubscribe.
