Update!

Hello everyone! I have a few important updates to share this month.

The Blood Angel series is complete.

Today I've uploaded the final two parts of the Blood Angel series (below this post)

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the delay. The recent heatwave had a bigger impact on my schedule than I expected and made it difficult to keep up with recording/editing, but I'm happy to say the series is now complete.

Next project: Kravek Morne / Iron Warriors

As you can see from the work-in-progress photos, I've managed to make some good progress on Kravek Morne.

This tutorial will be split into several parts, covering:

  • True metallics

  • Hazard stripes

  • Glowing hammer effects

  • The face

My aim is to have all of these released throughout this month.

Monthly PDFs

Good news! The monthly PDFs are returning.

I've brought someone on to help with these, which takes a lot of pressure off and should allow us to consistently release around one or two PDFs each month going forward.

The first two returning PDFs will cover the recent Blood Angel armour tutorial and the Ork skin tutorial.

Future videos

I've got plenty planned over the coming weeks.

I'm not quite finished with the Armageddon miniatures yet, and there are still a few more tutorials I'd like to release for those this month and next.

I'll also be painting a quick Grot tutorial, along with another Space Marine Chapter that I haven't covered before (one that's heavily featured in an upcoming game).

The Adeptus Mechanicus and Custodes tutorials are still on the way as well. I actually started recording both of these a while ago, but I wasn't completely happy with the footage or the process, so I've decided to redo them properly rather than rush them out.

I'm also really excited about the new Ogors. I think they'll be a fantastic opportunity to cover painting large areas of skin, along with lots of other fun textures and details. Once they're released, I can't wait to get some tutorials out for them as well.

New Patreon feedback tier

I've been talking about this for a while, but I wanted to make sure everything was ready before announcing it.

This Friday (edit* it's now looking like Monday 13th evening UK time) I'll be launching a brand new feedback tier. Initially it will be limited to just 25 spaces so I can see how it works.

The main feature will be a monthly feedback video where I'll be able to give much more in-depth critiques and advice on your miniatures. Something I know a lot of you have been asking for.

I'm also planning to include some behind the scenes content and shorter, less-edited painting tips and tutorials that don't really fit into my normal YouTube or Patreon releases.

This will be a trial tier to begin with, giving me a chance to refine it based on your feedback and make sure I can deliver the best possible experience.

As always, thank you all so much for your continued support. It genuinely means a lot, and I'm excited to share everything I've got planned over the next few weeks!

- Dave

Hey Dave! Super exited to see you tackle the new Ogors. Do you have any plans of ever returning to Golden Demon? I’ve found your Mangler Squigs and Trugg videos super helpful for my own entries both last year and for starting my one for Essen this year. It would be an honour to meet you and see your work in the flesh. Hope all is well!

Hey Danny, thank you for the message. Yes I see the Ogors are up for pre release next week so I will be ordering those. I did originally plan to enter GD, potentially it's still happening, I still have everything booked however at the moment my focus is really on Patreon and building out the library of content on here. GD has always been a bit counter productive to that, so I will see if I can make something work but I'm not too sure at the moment. Best of luck for the competition though, it's always been a great event with awesome people. Well worth the expense and travel.

Can't wait for your Iron Warriors tutorial! Question: Can you tell us what kind of airbrush you use and maybe a fundamentals tutorial on how you use it?

Hey, thank you for the support. Aiming to get the first part out in the next couple of days. I mostly only use the airbrush for base coats so any entry level one is going to be fine. Having said that I would avoid the super cheap ones. I personally love Harder & Steenbeck and I use an Infinity however they are quite expensive just for base coating. The Ultra is their entry level one and the Evolution is the mid range. Any H&S are beautifully built and will last years so I really recommend them. The infinity does have a really nice feel and is capable of really fine control over the spray but any of these you could also do smooth gradients as well if you wanted. Hope that helps!

Your Imperial Fists paint along series is what inspired me to get back into 40k some 20+ years on from when I last collected, so hopefully I'll have some minis built and painted for when you open up the feedback tier beyond the initial 25! Thanks for all the incredible content

Someone get Dave the new Ogors release NOW! Thanks for such great content, I truly feel both inspired and motivated by your work. You manage to break down barriers and make the ‘eavy metal style more accessible, if it makes sense!
