The Amazing Digital Circus - Episode 8

18:50 hindsight! 👀👀👀 Also Jax's nightmare sequence is even worse post E9!
Caine is missing from the end credits of this one. XD
I’m just realizing something. In the story of Caine and Abel they both give gifts to God. God likes Abel’s gift better, so Caine kills him. It’s literally a direct biblical parallel.
I got that RWBY reference you made!
Not typically a commenter as I tend lurk in the shadows I was borne from, but I love so much that every time Mortius is surprised or has an idea/prediction he just spins around, it's so silly :)
FTR I'm pretty sure the implication is supposed to be that she keeps staring at the headset bc that's the headset she put on right before showing up at the circus.
"Someone's dying by the end of this episode" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH yup
Here’s my breakdown/theory of what happened when Caine trapped them with their inner problems: Pomni’s issue is Gummygoo because she tried to save him and he died on her watch, it’s more or less a guilty conscience. Caine combats that by using him as a weapon against her, put into a situation where she can’t help herself. Ragatha’s issue is her mother and how she fears she won’t be good enough. Caine uses her fear and puts her at a dinner table with her mother overlooking her. The knifes could be a symbol for her mother’s insults but that’s up for speculation. When the shadow bends down and looks at ragatha, she’s hit by another knife but she’s not fazed, as if to say she fears her mother more than showing weakness. Gangles is a little bit complex, but she struggles with regulating her own emotions due to her comedy mask and Caine uses that to mock her in art which she uses as a comfort mechanism. This is where it gets complex, Gangle is known to like anime and things related which also means that she knows about Isekai, (which for people who don’t know, it’s where you die and you get reincarnated in another life in another world) she most likely dreamed about living in another world and the way that isekai works is that you get hit by a truck, shows up more than once so it has to have a meaning, again it’s up to speculation. Zooble’s is about her body dysmorphia and how she doesn’t like how many different parts she has and can replace. She did say how she’s getting more comfortable in her own body but Caine uses it as a chance to mock her. She is eventually surrounded by parts of her body, to symbolize herself holding herself back, and the mirrors are to showcase that no matter where she looks she’s stuck looking at her body which she hates so much. And lastly, Jax. His character personality more or less builds off of “fragile masculinity” but also not quite. He has had moments where he was put in a situation of being embarrassed and entirely freaks out over it like the maid dress, it’s still a mystery as in why, considering he is the “funny one”. The entire scene where he is surrounded by those he calls friends is extremely disturbing yet interesting. Most likely it’s a symbol of showing his vulnerability around people he trusts and them laughing at him, but it could also mean that he doesn’t want to seem weak around his friends. All of this is entirely up for speculation, but these are things I’ve noticed and/or got told, so I had to share!
I agree with most of this, and want to add that the reason Pomni's is tied up in the Circus and ONLY the Circus (unlike Zooble who likely had dysmorphia before arriving that the Circus just made worse) is probably because she's only been here a little while and she's pretty reticent about information on herself and her emotional state. I don't think he's had the chance to really learn anything about her time before the Circus that he could use, whereas with the others he's got more to work with just because they've been stuck here longer so he's had more chances to get little tidbits of vulnerability to tuck away. The whole Gummigoo thing was the most vulnerable we've really seen Pomni this whole time.
As an Ultrakill player, hearing Mortius say “v1” and “v2” startled me
The Bible doth declare that whosoever kills Cain shall suffer sevenfold.
If you watch to the end of the credits, they give the date the last episode will drop
I'm so glad you mentioned Zoobles line from the restaurant! I've been screaming for months how caine is gonna learn they hate him and that line hinted at it. I felt both vindicated and horrified that I was right
I don't think anyone could have guessed *how* much he would lash out... Like holy moly...
I really hope this isn't the last we see of Caine. He's done awful things, but I honestly think he deserves better. Even if he *doesn't * deserve it, I hope he gets a true chance. I know a lot of the fandom hates on him (and I can understand why), but as Kinger so beautifully put it back in ep 3, "in this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved." I've always wanted Caine to find a true connection - even just one person to talk to who could help him slow down enough to truly learn about humanity. Someone to reassure him that yeah, actually, he *is* enough...and that mistakes don't make him a failure, it's just part of learning - a process that humans can relate to all too well. On another note, I fully expected you to make the RWBY reference (I think we all thought about it and wanted to cry a little), but it took me OUT when you started singing "We're All in This Together!" As a show choir kid, I immediately started singing it and halfway doing the choreography on my first watch, but seeing it from someone else was so gloriously unexpected that I burst out laughing!
Mistakes? One accidental lash out is a mistake, calculated, repeated *torture* isn't a mistake, "I'm going to put you freaks in your place" isn't a mistake... I can absolutely sympathise with his pain, but have 0 defence for him at all anymore 🤷 I hope for his sake that he's gone so that he's possibly at peace and isn't in that pain and confusion that caused so much suffering for everyone else
fun fact: Pomni's disappearance and reappearance in the cafe almost perfectly matches with her first ever appearance in the TADC teaser by Gooseworx! Down to the knife placement and shaking body/eyes.
I remember reading about how this show was inspired by "I have no mouth and I must scream" and thinking initially like "oh yeah i see a twist on that, people trapped with an AI that tries to create fun for them but they hate it". Then this episode came out and definitively showed how strongly it was inspired. Defo top 3 episode for me.
the only thing i wish is that there was a actual throwback to the moment zooble said “the only thing holding caine back is the fact that he LIKES us” he doesnt like them anymore
commented this RIGHT before he said it in the video
Is that a RWBY reference I hear
I haven’t seen anyone else comment this but the computer also says to delete Caine multiple times but Kinger says no to all of them. It also says DELETE THIS M*********R so whoever is talking to Kinger isn’t Caine
It might be remnants of the original AI, wouldn't surprise me to find out that even though Kane took it over, it didn't totally delete it because it needed its ability to actually input and output information correctly
With Cain's influence gone, do you think they'll remember their names now???
Oh god. Yknow I always assumed that was the headset actually, it has nothing to do with his code or any of the programming he created. But i guess we'll see
17:45 Don't worry, I understood the reference.🤣
did he say Stanley Parable?? mortius knows ball???
The finale release date was right after the credits btw
Stress singing Mortius is unfortunately my favorite Mortius.
You're right, Caine *is* very smart, but like about half the cast, Pomni is more *emotionally* intelligent than him. She knows he's easily distracted and manipulatable through his insecurities and she quickly weighs the cost and benefit and just goes fuck it. God she is so good this episode
"Someone's dying at the end of this episode" how's that dodgeball to the face going
I really like that Caine is like the embodiment of truly uninhibited creative process. Just turn off brain, make something, doesn't matter what it is or if there's any recognizable logic to it. It's terrifying and beautiful
You know what i love most about Pomni conjuring the door is that it retroactively implies she did it before on accident. Probably the first time she saw it when she first arrived it was a mistake on Caine's part, but her fixation on it, or in other words, her concentrating on finding it again, might have caused her to conjure it again without even realizing it. Which would be very cool
Folks, have you considered the implications of the musical number?
Whether platonic or romantic the funnybunny in this episode is peak. It has been for a hot minute but "be here later" fucking got me man
My FB heart was a puddle! Absolutely gonna be using that quote with my bestie when we have plans
Between Caine mentioning mind files and Kingers computer having a folder labeled C&A neural scans maybe now the fandom will accept that they aren't actually in pods and leaving was never on the table to begin with. Although if Kinger can fix/replace Caine in the finale then maybe they can all get bodies they actually are comfortable in instead of these
You had like, practically the same reaction I did watching this 😭 Jaw dropped on the floor and everything ‼️
Hey, I was in the RWBY overlap, and that hurt, my friend!
I made the connection between Caine & Abel too. I even sent a message during the live premiere at that part.
And speaking of vocal performances can someone give Alex Rochon approximately 500 awards? I'm fucking obsessed
I also didn't appreciate it enough on first viewing but I just remembered that Bubble is voiced by Goose and gotta say, fantastic work queen
I knew you would make the rwby reference hell yeah
"Because they don't actually belong in the circus" Haha yeah that'd be crazy if they actually were more ai than human and didn't realize it good thing they're not tho right
If you listen closely during Caine's song you can here the TADC theme that's in the intro song from the first episode
This episode was absolutely insane!!
Best episode yet. Like all previous episodes were
Sorry for the spam of comments but for when you upload this to YT, I think you missed an important bit. After Jax and Pomni have their "Be here later" moment, Jax says "Oh my god, this IS real." The implication at least to me is that he's managed to disassociate himself so far that his best coping mechanism is to believe nothing here is real at all, and Kinger giving REAL WORLD facts broke him. His entire attitude this entire time has been "It's not real, we're not real, so why does what we do matter?" and I think that explains, but doesn't excuse, his rudeness and jokey manner towards everything. He wants this to be a dream, because if it isn't, he's really here and everything he's said and done has mattered
This is going to be such a chill and fun reaction I'm so sure
I had the exact same thought about living "for the next life" or living for this one
Also that HURT, how dare you quote a RWBY song at me right after
Mortius, I hate to make this like *worse* for you, like emotionally. But Queenie was Kinger's wife from BEFORE the circus.
Yes, THAT is why she ends up recognizing him.
Man’s got good taste in tiktokers
Truly
oh boy oh boy I can't wait to watch mortius be completely normal about this
Can't believe how quick this came out! We must've been at the premiere!
Instant click
Firs-- aw dang it
HAHAHAHA YES
