Part 1
Leaving the Enlightenment Courtyard behind, darkness had already fallen. Xiao Yifeng mounted his sword and flew back to Huixing Courtyard, spotting from a distance that the entire courtyard was aglow with light.
A woman in a green dress stood at the doorway, holding a small lantern in her hand. She simply stood there, graceful and poised, dressed in an ordinary green gown.
Her jet-black hair, smooth as silk, was casually gathered into a flying-immortal bun, while the rest flowed down like fine satin.
Her beautiful face bore not a trace of cosmetics, her skin fair, soft, and translucent.
Truly, like a lotus emerging from clear water, naturally beautiful without adornment.
Two years had passed, yet Xiao Yue had grown even more delicate and captivating. Her cultivation had already reached the seventh level of the Qi Refining Realm, which was not considered slow.
From afar, upon seeing him, a radiant smile appeared on her beautiful face. She forcibly restrained her excitement and gracefully bowed to Xiao Yifeng. “Welcome back.”
“Xiao Yue, since when did you become so distant? Look at this.” Xiao Yifeng said with a smile, then took out a beautiful bouquet of Sea Spirit Flowers.
“Sea Spirit Flowers… you actually brought them back for me.” Xiao Yue hadn’t expected that he would remember this matter at all, and for a moment, she was overjoyed.
“Of course! Before returning to the sect, I specially made a detour to your Yuanhai Kingdom. I even brought back many different varieties of flower seeds from your homeland. Have a look— Do you like them?”
Xiao Yifeng took out a storage pouch and handed it to Xiao Yue.
“I like them! Of course I like them!” Xiaoyue was deeply moved. Some time ago, rumours had spread in the palace that Xiao Yifeng and Su Miaoqing had gone missing, which had terrified her.
“Old Xiao, you really scared me to death. I thought you truly weren’t coming back,” Xiao Yue said.
“How could I? I was thinking about coming back so you could give me a bath. How could I bear to die? I crawled my way out from piles of corpses all the way back,” Xiao Yifeng joked.
Xiao Yue’s face flushed red at once. Both embarrassed and annoyed, she said, “You little brat, always so glib and shameless.”
Knowing her thin skin, Xiao Yifeng stopped teasing her and stepped into the small courtyard. On both sides, flowers bloomed in abundance, their fragrance rich in the air, making the place seem like a vast garden.
After a moment, he asked casually, “While I was away… No one gave you trouble, did they?”
Xiao Yue froze for a moment, then forced a slight smile. “Of course not.”
Having grown up with her, Xiao Yifeng understood her well. He knew she was hiding something, but did not press her, only planning to look into it later.
At this time, the night air was slightly cool. Xiao Yifeng and Xiao Yue sat down in the courtyard and began chatting casually. During this, Xiao Yue asked about her mother.
Xiao Yifeng then carefully told her about his trip to the Yuanhai Kingdom. Upon learning that her mother had been imprisoned but fortunately rescued, Xiao Yue was startled. As for the others, she did not show much reaction.
As the two were talking, they suddenly felt a sharp, piercing gaze upon them. Turning around, they saw that it was Su Miaoqing, dressed in a red gown, standing at the gate of the courtyard, glaring at them.
“Senior Sister? What brings you here?” Xiao Yifeng asked, surprised.
“Miss Qing’er!” Xiao Yue hesitated, then quickly recognised her, rising to bow in greeting.
Su Miaoqing’s eyes flicked over her, cool and assessing. She let out a soft, disdainful huff. “If I hadn’t come,” she said lightly, “I’d worry someone might get ideas. Even rabbits don’t eat the grass near their own burrow… but some people, it seems, lack that restraint.”
Xiao Yifeng could only smile wryly. In Su Miaoqing’s eyes, his reputation had utterly crumbled—he had somehow been demoted into a shameless rogue, a “young master of brothels” in all but name.
“Xiao Yue, you’re coming with me tonight. No more staying here,” Su Miaoqing declared, her tone absolute. “This man? He’ll eat you alive.”
Xiaoyue looked at Xiao Yifeng in confusion. He could only nod and said with a smile, “Xiao Yue, listen to Senior Sister.”
Su Miaoqing shot Xiao Yifeng a smug look, then took Xiao Yue away, leaving him standing there alone.
He returned to his familiar room gloomily and sat cross-legged to cultivate.
Fortunately, Su Miaoqing was not entirely unreasonable. During the day, she still allowed Xiaoyue to come back and take care of him.
The next day, as usual, after having breakfast with Su Miaoqing and her family, Xiao Yifeng checked his storage pouch.
There were many miscellaneous items inside, but very few medicinal pills. After thinking for a moment, he rode his sword towards the marketplace. He intended to purchase some pills and deal with the fragments of magical artefacts inside.
Since Obsidian Snow Sword was not with him, and he could not take out Immortal Slayer Sword either, while Luohong had already been shattered, he could only make do with a low-grade immortal sword.
Upon arriving at the marketplace, he found that its scale had expanded by more than double. The crowds were bustling, even livelier than before.
It seemed that in preparation for the upcoming True Martial Art Ranking, many people, like him, had come here to make preparations, which led to the increased flow of people.
It was said that this time, even people from other sects would come to observe the event. It would be quite a grand occasion.
Xiao Yifeng walked towards the only Treasure Pavilion within the market district. This was a branch pavilion established here by a major power.
Arriving at the grand and imposing Treasure Pavilion, he stepped forward and entered. Inside, quite a number of disciples from the Heaven Inquiry Sect were busy attending to guests.
Noticing that Xiao Yifeng was dressed in the attire of a true disciple of the Heaven Inquiry Sect, a delicate-looking young woman approached him warmly and asked, “Welcome to the Treasure Pavilion. Senior, may I ask whether you are here to buy or to sell?”
“Both selling and buying,” Xiao Yifeng replied. “I am selling various fragments of magical artefacts, spirit treasures, and assorted spiritual herbs. I am buying pills suitable for the Foundation Establishment realm, as well as items needed for forming a Golden Core.”
Upon hearing this, the female disciple immediately recognised a major transaction. She hurriedly invited Xiao Yifeng further inside and called for a steward.
After inquiring about Xiao Yifeng’s needs, the steward warmly guided him to the second floor.
Xiao Yifeng did not waste words. He took out the piles of various magical artefact fragments and spiritual herbs stored in his storage ring and dumped them out like rubbish, forming a large heap on the ground.
The steward was dumbfounded. This was the first time he had seen someone sell magical artefacts in such bulk.
The way he looked at Xiao Yifeng became somewhat strange. What exactly had this fellow done to obtain so many artefact fragments?
The steward did not dare make a decision on his own and called for the branch pavilion master to come.
The branch master was a woman in her twenties, with delicate features and above-average beauty. Upon seeing the glittering pile of fragments covering the ground, she too was startled.
“Wan Qing greets fellow daoist. Fellow daoist truly makes a grand move,” said the pavilion master named Wanqing with a smile.
“Does your Treasure Pavilion accept this kind of item?” Xiao Yifeng asked.
“Fellow daoist, rest assured, we naturally accept it,” Wan Qing replied. Several appraisers stood behind Wan Qing. The group spent quite some time examining the items before finally giving a relatively fair price.
Xiao Yifeng roughly estimated it himself. Since everything had been picked up anyway, he did not particularly mind, and simply chose to exchange goods for goods, trading them for a large quantity of pills suitable for the Foundation Establishment and Golden Core realms.
“Fellow daoist, the quantity of pills you require is too large. We can only provide part of it now; the rest will need to be transferred from other locations. Would it be acceptable to deliver them to you in two days?” Wan Qing asked.
“No problem. I will come back in two days to collect them,” Xiao Yifeng said with a smile, unhurried.
With the Treasure Pavilion’s reputation, he was not worried they would default on such a small amount of pills.
“Fellow daoist is truly straightforward. This is a VIP token of our Treasure Pavilion. With this item, you may enjoy a ten percent discount at any Treasure Pavilion in the future.”
Wan Qing smiled and handed over a jade pendant. On it were the words “Treasure Pavilion,” and on the reverse was written “1198.”
Wanqing warmly escorted Xiao Yifeng downstairs. Upon reaching the main hall on the first floor, a voice of surprise suddenly rang out: “Senior Brother Xiao.”
