Part 1
Xiao Yifeng let out a cold laugh. “A beauty as venomous as Fairy Luo is more than I can handle.”
Luo Yun knew he was aware of her killing Liu Yue. She gave a light, tinkling laugh and said, “How could Fellow Daoist Wu Chen be compared to that mediocrity Liu Yue? Luo Yun is still a pure maiden, not the wanton woman you imagine.”
She drifted towards Xiao Yifeng on light, measured steps, her dress sliding down inch by inch until only thin undergarments clung to her. Her figure was rich and captivating, dazzling enough to make one’s head spin.
Luo Yun watched him closely, her voice low and gentle. “All I want is to leave. For that, I’ll give you everything, Fellow Daoist Wu Chen. Even myself.”
“Fellow Daoist Luo Yun would do well to stop right there! Take one more step and don’t blame me for being cruel!” Xiao Yifeng said coldly.
She sighed when she saw his wary expression. Figures. This one wasn’t as gullible as Liu Yue.
“If you doubt me,” she said steadily, “then I swear with my life. Take me out of the Immortal Palace, and I will surrender the Book of Destiny and the Stone Stele of Samsara, and become your Furnace. If I betray this oath, may I perish utterly, soul scattered beyond return.”
Xiao Yifeng pondered for a moment. Truth be told, he was not confident he could deal with this woman. Moreover, the Immortal Palace was about to close.
“Xiao Yifeng hereby swears: if I obtain the Book of Destiny and the Stone Stele of Samsara, I will certainly take Luo Yun out of the Immortal Palace! If I break this oath, may my life and Dao be destroyed, with no hope of the Great Path!”
At once, he forced out a drop of vital blood and sent it flying into Luo Yun’s contract, counting it as a blood pact. If he were to violate this oath, he would truly die.
“Can Master trust Yun’er now?” Luo Yun asked softly. “The Immortal Palace is closing soon. We should leave at once.”
She stepped closer, placing the Book of Destiny and the Stone Stele of Samsara into his hands, her posture humble, her voice gentle.
Xiao Yifeng accepted them. The moment his fingers touched the Book of Destiny, it melted into his body as if it had always belonged there. Luo Yun watched, her heart twisting with envy and bitterness.
“No hurry,” Xiao Yifeng laughed. “Let me sample it first.” Luo Yun froze, utterly stunned.
Xiao Yifeng casually put away the Stone Stele of Samsara, then suddenly pulled Luo Yun towards him and pressed a forceful kiss onto her lips. One of his hands wandered restlessly.
Caught completely off guard, Luo Yun was firmly kissed by him. Her whole body trembled, and she froze in place, at a loss for what to do.
All Xiao Yifeng could think was: soft. Sweet. Way too tempting. After being thoroughly worked up by Su Miaoqing, he clearly had no patience left and kissed Luo Yun without holding back.
His hand roamed just as boldly.
The moment his hand settled on her, Luo Yun’s body trembled again.
Tears welled at the corners of Luo Yun’s eyes, yet she still clumsily returned the kiss, as if she truly understood nothing at all.
Only after a long moment did their lips part. Luo Yun’s face burned crimson, her eyes unfocused, breath ragged, her chest rising and falling sharply. Her undergarments lay in chaos, her form half revealed, a sight brimming with temptation.
She seized Xiao Yifeng’s restless hand, forcing it still, and spoke through shallow breaths, “Master… Do you trust Yun’er now? Take Yun’er out, and this life will be yours. Why rush such a moment?”
But Xiao Yifeng suddenly pulled free, turning away without a trace of attachment, laughter in his voice:
“I have no intention of ending up like Liu Yue, drunk to death in an immortal’s gentle embrace. A beauty is best sampled lightly. Fairy Luo, stay here and reflect properly. I will certainly return to take you out!”
With that, he transformed into a streak of light and vanished in an instant.
“Xiao Yifeng! You liar!” Luo Yun shouted, furious and dishevelled. “Aren’t you afraid the backlash of your blood oath?”
“Fairy, you only said she would become my Furnace, but never said for how long. I said I would take the Fairy out, and it’s the same logic. Fair’s fair! Within three years, I will naturally take the Fairy out!” Xiao Yifeng said with a cold laugh.
Luo Yun hastily threw her clothes back on and chased after Xiao Yifeng in fury, but how could she possibly catch up to him?
Regarding Luo Yun, Xiao Yifeng did not wish to violate the blood oath, yet neither did he want her to leave the Immortal Palace so easily. He therefore intended to leave her trapped within the Immortal Palace for a few years to reflect.
This could also be considered an explanation to Liu Yue. After all, in his previous life, Liu Yue had safely left the Immortal Palace. Xiao Yifeng’s arrival had indirectly led to Liu Yue’s death.
Along the way, Xiao Yifeng acknowledged ownership of the two stone steles and discovered that his control over the Immortal Palace had increased further.
Relying on his connection to the Immortal Palace, Xiao Yifeng quickly located Su Miaoqing, and the two of them flew towards the vortex high in the sky.
Along the way, Su Miaoqing wore a strange expression, constantly twitching her nose as if she were smelling something. Xiao Yifeng immediately felt a wave of guilt.
At this moment, Lin Xiao and Mo Shuiyao were standing in front of the vortex high in the sky, waiting. When they saw the two approaching, they moved to block the vortex, clearly unwilling to let them pass easily.
“I wonder whether Fellow Daoist Wu Chen… oh, no, Fellow Daoist Xiao, managed to find Luo Yun?” Lin Xiao asked with a smile.
“No! She must be hiding somewhere!” Xiao Yifeng replied calmly, naturally unwilling to mention that the remaining Book of Destiny had already fallen into his hands.
“Pfft!” Mo Shuiyao laughed outright. “Fellow Daoist Xiao, you don’t even bother making your lies sound convincing!” Even Lin Xiao looked faintly amused.
“What exactly does Fairy Mo mean by that?” Xiao Yifeng asked coldly.
“Brother Xiao, why don’t you ask your junior sister whether she believes you or not? You’ve been missing for so long, who would have thought you were off eating rouge!” Mo Shuiyao said with a laugh.
Xiao Yifeng froze for a moment and looked at Su Miaoqing. Su Miaoqing puffed out her cheeks, glaring at him as she said angrily, “Hmph! Was Fairy Luo Yun tasty? So tasty that you even forgot to wipe your mouth?”
Only then did Xiao Yifeng realise what was going on. He touched his lips with his fingertips and, sure enough, saw a trace of pink, faintly luminous powder on his finger. It was exactly the same shade as Luo Yun’s, whereas Su Miaoqing never wore such things.
He immediately felt extremely awkward. This was utterly absurd.
No wonder Luo Yun’s lips looked so alluring. Natural was better after all. What was the point of all that rouge and powder?
But Xiao Yifeng was no ordinary man. Without changing his expression, he said, “My lips have been a bit dry lately. I merely borrowed some rouge from Fairy Luo Yun to moisten them.”
“So Fairy Luo is quite passionate, is she? She even applied it for you herself.” Su Miaoqing’s voice dripped with frost.
Mo Shuiyao and Lin Xiao both rolled their eyes. Who was he trying to fool?
“With the Immortal Palace about to shut its gates, what exactly are you two doing blocking us here?” Xiao Yifeng asked smoothly, steering the conversation elsewhere.
“For the Book of Destiny, naturally,” Mo Shuiyao said without hesitation.
Xiao Yifeng pondered for a moment, then smiled. “Since the Book of Destiny has split into several portions, that too must be Heaven’s will. The two of you likely aren’t confident in dealing with us either. How about this: we swear that once we leave, we will not reveal a single word about the Book of Destiny. What do you say?”
Lin Xiao and the other were caught off guard by his proposal and stood stunned for a moment. After all, who wouldn’t want exclusive possession of something like the Book of Destiny?
After their thoughts raced quickly, the two of them understood that Xiao Yifeng and his companion were not easy to deal with. With the Immortal Palace about to close, they likely would not be able to do anything to him.
Moreover, if news were to leak that they had obtained the Book of Destiny, they would probably face endless pursuit and assassination.
Unless they could eliminate everyone present. But that was clearly impossible. No one here had the strength to accomplish such a thing.
“Brother Xiao’s proposal is most ingenious,” Lin Xiao said with a smile. Mo Shuiyao offered no objection.
Xiao Yifeng stepped forward first and established a blood oath. Su Miaoqing followed immediately after, swearing hers as well.
Lin Xiao and the other followed suit and made their oaths as well. At this point, if anyone refused to swear, they would likely be attacked by the others.
“Until we meet again, should fate permit,” Lin Xiao said politely.
“When Young Master Xiao visits the Tender Blossom Pavilion next time, Shuiyao will be sure to entertain you properly,” Mo Shuiyao said with a playful smile. “There won’t be any rouge on the menu though.”
Su Miaoqing was so angry she ground her teeth, while Xiao Yifeng’s face darkened like the bottom of an iron pot.
Seeing that the vortex in the sky was about to close, the group no longer hesitated and flew upward.
Luo Yun’s figure flew up from below. She shouted angrily at Xiao Yifeng, “Xiao Yifeng! You broke your promise!”
Her hair was dishevelled, her clothes untidy. The sight of her grinding her teeth in anger caused the others to stare at Xiao Yifeng with increasingly strange expressions.
What are you looking at? Do I look like that sort of fast-forward romeo?
Xiao Yifeng really wanted to retort, but he held his tongue. The more he explained, the worse it would become.
Seeing Luo Yun flying toward him, Xiao Yifeng paid her no attention. He grabbed Su Miaoqing and plunged into the vortex in the sky. The other two followed and flew in as well.
Luo Yun also flew toward the vortex, but she passed straight through it, as if it did not exist.
After a while, the vortex slowly dispersed.
In an instant, the entire Immortal Palace began to dim. There was not a single human sound, only the endless wailing of evil ghosts from the abyss below.
Luo Yun could not help but feel afraid. All around her were countless evil ghosts. In the entire Immortal Palace, she was the only living person left.
Would she also end up like that Strange Man? Growing old here for the rest of her life? She refuse such fate!
She flew frantically, but discovered she could not escape this wasteland. The Road to the Yellow Spring does not allow one to turn back.
She did not believe Xiao Yifeng’s promise to release her within three years. He must simply lack the ability to take her out.
She collapsed to the ground, strength draining from her limbs, and cried in silence.
