Under the weight of everyone’s attention, Yuiitsu got up from his chair and made his way into the group.
「I was waiting to see who would come to greet me first, and yet you lot just went and got all excited by yourselves… I get that you’re happy to meet after so long, but there’s a basic courtesy you’re supposed to observe. You’re here as representatives of your country, don’t you even understand that?」
「Oh my… I suppose you’re right. Now then, let me greet you properly… it’s been a while, Yuiitsu. Congratulations on your appointment as a hero. I look forward to your future achievements.」
「Hmph… What’s the point in saying that now? And Judia, there’s something I need to tell you.」
Then, standing before Judia, Yuiitsu suddenly Arcana close by the shoulder and continued speaking.
「Don’t stick your nose into my relationship with Arcana. We’ll decide for ourselves when we get together, and there’s no need to worry about her charm— I genuinely find Arcana attractive.」
「E~h? What are you talking about?」
「Hmph, it’s no use pretending otherwise. I just said it— Arcana calls me her 〝beloved boy〟. She loves me, and that’s that. No need to overthink it; the answer’s perfectly clear.」
Yuiitsu declared so with triumphant look on his face, and broke into laugh.
That was probably why he hasn’t realised it. Judia standing in front of him lets out an exasperated “Ah…”, while Arcana, cradled in his arms, holds her head and mutters, “It's as you see...”
「…However, Judia, I don’t want to disregard your feelings either.」
Having laugh to his heart’s content, Yuiitsu turned back to Judia, still wearing a mischievous grin.
「E~h? My feeling?」
「Yeah. You said it, didn’t you? That you "Want me" right in front of Arcana. I intend to make that wish come true. You might be thinking, “What are you thinking about while you already have Arcana…” but I understand the courage and resolve it takes for a woman to approach a man. Any man who crushes that and brings shame to a woman is a total jerk!」
「Hmm? Yeah, we did talk about being held and all that, but it’s not like I actually mea---」
「I know! You’re worried whether it’s right to accept your feelings when Arcana and the others are around, aren’t you? But that matter has already been settled. For the sake of passing on my excellent genes, they have agreed that I should have relations with many women. So, you can rest easy and let yourself be embraced by me」
「Ugh, gross. He’s not listening to a single word she’s saying.」
「He hasn’t changed a bit, has he? Still, to openly declare his infidelity like that. Well, since it’s Judia-sama, who already has a reverse-harem, it’s… Somewhat understandable, but… No, he really is just the worst.」
「Chuckle… Before she even thinks about accepting his feelings, he’s already shown himself to be a total ashle… Chuckle…」
Ashley and the others spoke in voices low enough that Yuiitsu couldn’t hear. Unaware of their whispers, Yuiitsu raised his right hand, index finger extended, and addressed Judia, whose face was tight with unease.
「But there’s one condition for me to hold you: dismantle that so-called reverse harem immediately.」
「Eh?!」
「I intend to answer your feelings honestly. You must do the same and face me sincerely. I won’t tolerate the presence of other men in our relationship. Properly dismantle your reverse harem and look only to me. That’s the condition for me taking you.」
「....」
「Don’t worry, I’ll make you forget about those other men straight away. Not to boast, but I have plenty of experience. Every woman who slept with me wept for joy. The reason you’re frustrated is that no man has been able to satisfy you. If you slept with me, you’ll surely be satisfied. You won’t need a harem any more, so once you return, dismantle the harem at once and move to this place with Clarice.」
「Huh? Clarice?」
Why on earth was Clarice’s name being dragged into this?
Judia shot Yuiitsu a doubtful look, but he only nodded with a slightly sheepish smile.
「... To think Clarice was planning to take me as her husband. I’ll admit, it took me by surprise — but then, given that I’m the man in question, it’s hardly unexpected. I’ll accept those feelings of hers as well.」
「Hold on! How did you twist it into that? Just now, what I meant was—」
「Hahaha, persistent, aren’t you? Didn’t you just say yourself that bringing me along would cause a whole fuss over dowries and moving house? That’s why you left her behind. Honestly, Aura frets over the strangest things. True, my magical power is far beyond the norm, so it’s natural to feel some unease about the effect it might have on any children born. But calling it a "Problem" is an exaggeration. If anything, I’m the only man truly worthy of being her partner.」
「Eh... How on earth did you manage to twist it like that?」
「Alas, I am bound to remain here as the Hero. That cannot change. Which means, if she truly wish to be my bride, she’ll have to relinquish her current station and move here. The very fact she spoke of ‘moving’ tells me she’ve already resolved herself to it… So, I shall keep a room in my mansion prepared, waiting for the day she and Judia come together to Danshelmare.」
Leaving Judia utterly dumbfounded, Yuiitsu finished his pronouncement, then turned his gaze towards Ashley and the others.
「If any of you wish to be my wives, just say the word whenever you like. I’ll have rooms prepared, and if need be, I don’t mind expanding the mansion on an even grander scale. Be sure to tell Kanaloa the same.」
Leaving behind a smile of utter self-confidence, he turned away from the group and, brimming with satisfaction, returned to his seat.
Reclining smugly against the backrest and humming a cheerful tune, Yuiitsu left the witches staring at him in stunned silence. Even Sera and her companions, struck with guilt, began bowing their heads repeatedly in apology to the four.
「We are truly sorry. It’s only because we’ve been indulging him so much on a daily basis…」
「Allow me to apologise as well. I am fully aware of how unpleasant this must be for you. Please, for my sake, endure it just this once.」
「I’m sorry. I—I can do nothing but apologise, but truly, I am sorry.」
「So sorry. One day, I do intend to make him properly realise his place. When that time comes, we’ll repay him for this incident too. So just this once, please forgive us, won’t you?」
「O-oh… well, it’s not so much unpleasant as it is simply beyond comprehension…」
「You girls really do seem to have your fair share of troubles with him…」
「Please, pay us no mind. I’ll think of it as nothing more than the barking of a filthy stray dog.」
「Indeed… dealing with him is nothing but a waste of time. To think there’s someone in this world who could be even less than me… The world truly is a strange place.」
And so, while the shrine maidens bowed their heads, the witches did their utmost to console them. A most peculiar scene continued to unfold— Until at last, the heavy door opened once again.
