「Uhm, Kyouka-san. Can you let go of my arm for the time being?」
「Oh my, are you sure, Kuroki-san?」

　Kuroki was dragged around Saria by Kyouka.
　Since Kyouka was clinging to his arm, he could feel her soft and supple sensation against it.
　The situation triggered an emergency in his lower body.

（NO NO NO GIRL! YOUR CHE*ST!）

　Kuroki was completely at a loss due to Kyouka's assertive attitude.
　He felt that many women had showered their affection on him ever since he was summoned to this world.
　Even though he was just a normal person on Earth, he was a hero in this world.
　In reality, he did hold power here, so it was only natural for the opposite sex to be attracted to him.
　Thus, he had started to accept that reality after coming to this world.
　However, that shouldn’t apply to Kyouka, who came from the same world as him.
　Not to mention that Kyouka was a beauty, and a princess on top of that—she had been someone far beyond his reach back on Earth.
　And yet, Kyouka was showering Kuroki with such straightforward affection.
　Kuroki, who could barely hold a proper conversation with someone like his childhood friend Shirone, didn’t know what to do in this situation.
　The two became the center of attention among the pedestrians around them.
　That was only natural, since a beauty like Kyouka was clinging to him affectionately.
　Kuroki’s true identity was that of a Dark Knight, and he didn’t want to stand out in Saria.
　He could have easily shaken her off, but the idea of being liked by a beautiful woman from his original world seemed unlikely to happen again, and he didn’t want to spoil the mood.
　He tried to think of what to say to get her to let go of his arm, but every time the sensation of her ch*st pressed against it, his brain short-circuited, rendering him unable to do anything.

「By the way, where can we meet that Magius-san?」
「Sigh… Magius-sama usually resides in the Tower of Sages. This way, please.」

　Mitsuami heaved a sigh as she spoke.
　She had an exaggerated look on her face.
　Kuroki looked at Mitsuami.
　Until a while ago, she treated Kuroki like some sort of malignant tumor.
　Although he was introduced by the Great Sage Magius, Kuroki was not considered a magician—at least officially.
　In fact, some magicians had a tendency to look down on non-magicians.
　Though it wasn’t always obvious, it showed in their attitude.
　They seemed to view such people as ignorant fools who didn’t pursue knowledge.
　This wasn’t something unique to this world. Even on Earth, highly educated individuals sometimes looked down on those with less education.
　And in Saria, there were non-magicians as well, but those who weren’t magicians were considered lower-class citizens.
　Ordinary people were expected to always show deference to the higher-ranking magicians. In Saria, this was the norm.
　Since Kuroki wasn’t a member of the Magician Association, he was here as an ordinary person.
　Mitsuami was puzzled, wondering why an ordinary person was allowed to enter the Forbidden Archive through Magius's introduction.
　The Forbidden Archive was so difficult to access that even a magician struggled to enter, yet Kuroki had been allowed in.
　This fact left Mitsuami with a headache over how to treat Kuroki.
　However, that wasn’t the case anymore.
　Kuroki clearly held special status in the hero party.
　Thus, Mitsuami could only look at Kuroki and Kyouka’s banter with a dumbfounded face.
　Her impression of him had worsened.
　The duo followed Mitsuami toward the Sage Tower.
　The Tower of the Sage was located at the center of Saria and could be seen from anywhere in the city.
　The library was also located in the center, so it was close by.
　The entrance of the Tower of the Sage was guarded by stationed soldiers.
　The soldiers were not magicians themselves, but they were staff members of the Magician Association.
　Only magicians could become members of the Magician Association.
　However, running the Association proved to be difficult if only magicians were involved in everything.
　Many magicians disliked handling tedious jobs such as accounting and administrative tasks, as they saw those duties as obstacles to their magic research.
　Moreover, entrusting magicians with accounting carried the risk that some might embezzle funds for their own research.
　Thus, ordinary people were hired to work as staff of the Magician Association.
　That was why there were individuals who, while not members, held positions as staff within the Association.
　Naturally, higher positions such as chairman or vice-chairman were exclusive to magicians.
　Seeing Kuroki and company approaching, the soldiers blocked the way.

「Please halt, magician-dono. May I ask the reason for your visit? And do you have permission to enter?」

　The soldiers spoke to Mitsuami without even sparing a glance at Kuroki or Kyouka.
　It seemed they regarded Kuroki and Kyouka merely as Mitsuami’s companions.
　In a city of magicians, it was normal for those not dressed like magicians to be treated dismissively.
　If Mitsuami hadn’t been with them, they would likely have been chased away before even being asked what they wanted.

「We’ve come to meet Great Sage Magius-sama. May I enter?」
「Eh? Is that so? You should have made a prior arrangement, right?」

　The soldier was really surprised to hear Mitsuami's remark.

「No, we haven’t made a prior arrangement.」

　The soldiers looked at each other upon hearing Mitsuami’s reply.

「I see, no appointment, huh? Is there some kind of emergency?」

　Mitsuami turned to Kuroki and Kyouka upon hearing the soldier’s question.
　Kuroki looked at Kyouka.
　The reason being that the one who wanted to enter the Forbidden Archive was Kyouka.
　Whether it was an emergency or not, that was something he’d have to ask her.

「Yes, it’s an emergency—an urgent one. Chiyuki-san will be in trouble if we don’t finish this before the end of the council.」
「Eh? What kind of council are you talking about?」

　The soldiers had a troubled look on their faces upon hearing Kyouka’s remark.

「It’s the Council of Sages, Kyouka-sama.」

　Mitsuami said this with yet another exasperated expression.

「The Council of Sages. Once that’s over, we’ll have to leave immediately.」

　Kyouka nodded as she spoke.

「Council of Sages? And since you’re using honorifics when speaking with her, may I ask about their identity?」

　The soldiers had been focusing solely on Mitsuami until now, but finally turned their attention to Kuroki and Kyouka upon realizing Mitsuami’s attitude toward the duo.

「This lady is Kyouka-sama. She’s the little sister of the Hero of Light, Reiji-sama. She came with the Black-Haired Sage, Chiyuki-sama, for sightseeing during the Council of Sages.」
「Black-Haired Sage!?」

　When Chiyuki’s name was mentioned, the soldiers were taken aback.

「It seems that Kyouka-sama wishes to meet with the Great Sage. Could you allow her to pass through?」

　When Mitsuami said this, the soldiers exchanged glances and began to confer with each other.

「We apologize, but even though you are the little sister of the Light Hero, we cannot facilitate an audience without an appointment. Furthermore, the Great Sage is currently out.」

　The soldier replied with a troubled look on his face.
　Kuroki thought to himself that the soldier was truly loyal to his duty.
　This wasn’t a temporary hire; they were permanent staff members.
　By stabilizing his status, Magius had gained their loyalty to duty.

「Well, since he’s out right now, may I ask for his location?」
「My apologies... We have no idea about that either.」

　The soldier shook his head.

（They might be lying... They seem to know where Magius is.）

　Kuroki saw through the soldier’s lie.
　If they revealed the destination, Kyouka might show up there uninvited.
　In that case, it would be the same as facilitating the meeting with Kyouka.
