Announcing our First Patreon Stretch Goal: Switch Gear A Top Gear Rewatch Podcast
Hi everyone, Jordan here! I am happy to announce our first ever stretch goal for the podcast! As you all probably know, Victoria and I are both relying on this Patreon as our primary source of income at the moment. The two of us have been blown away by the outpouring of support, and we have been brainstorming ways to offer more Tran Girlismo for those of you who are so kindly supporting the two of us and the show.
We love making the show, and want to keep being able to focus on making the show the best it can be, and keep it growing! So we thought we’d announce a stretch goal: when we reach 1000 paying patrons a month, we will be adding a secondary bonus podcast for patrons! Our little show within a show is tentatively called Switch Gear: A Top Gear Rewatch Podcast.
It would be easy enough to just watch all of Top Gear in order, but we need to be realistic and promise an extra episode a month. [Victoria’s note: thank you for understanding, I am thirty or forty years old and very tired.] For a twist, we’ll each pick out an episode, watch both, and then reconvene to share our notes and record our thoughts! I think this lets us both revisit a lot of the highs of Top Gear, while also saving us from having to slog through a bunch of early seasons before it Gets Good™.
I have been trying to figure out a way to revisit Top Gear for a while, and I think this would be a perfect project to do so. Victoria and I love making Tran Girlismo, and the reception we’ve gotten has exceeded our greatest expectations. We want to keep making a show we can be proud of, and one that hopefully can pay both of us a living wage without us needing to take ads! This can be a fun goal for us to collectively aim for, and it’ll give you all more fun episodes and it’ll help us pay our rent. And if you do already subscribe, we hope this extra show will be a fun token of our appreciation for all of you!
TLDR; When we hit a thousand $4 dollar and up patrons, there will be a second monthly bonus episode behind the paywall that is all about classic Top Gear, nothing is changing about the main feed!

Are you planning on just doing “Switch Gear,” or are you also planning on a “The Trans Tour” (You can workshop the title) viewing “The Grand Tour” as well (as it’s a continuation of the three gits’ antics? And, are you solely focusing on Clarkson, Hammond and May or will you comment on one or two of the following series, or say, “Top Gear America” as a juxtaposition of how other iterations of the show compare to the original?
Unless I missed it in the message. It would be really cool if you notify us which top gear episodes the next podcast will be covering so we can watch them as well. That way it would be like a top gear book(show) club!
I second this. I watched a LOT of Top Gear in my… late 30s and early 40s and watched damn-near every episode. It would be nice to revisit the series and critique it as a near 50 year-old (and post-transition!).

This podcast got me to rewatch some old episodes for the first time in years. I now understand how profoundly reactionary it is. Unfortunately it's also still extremely funny and well made.
