Episode 7: Risky CIS-ness [With Guest Kevin McCauley]
Hello! In this episode we invite our old friend, author, and fellow podcaster Kevin McCauley! We catch up a bit on what we've all been up to in the past five years since the girls left Texas, and offer a lengthy digression about what Porsche calls their early fuel injection systems. (Hint: It's CIS.) Then we dive into a discussion of what Porsche Influencer Magnus Walker is up to on the heels of his newest Sotheby's hypebeast starter kit auction.
Check out Kevin's absolutely incredible book, Waiting For The Sun To Come Down at Carrera Media! And if you want more Kevin you can listen to him (biannually) on New For '96! He also has a fantastic YouTube channel for automotive photographers called Capturing The Machine!

FWIW the SAABARU is the 9-2x. It's older than the 9-4 by a solid chunk. The 9-4X was a Saab Cadillac SRX.
As an autobody tech of 15 years, I fail to see how watching a guy glue a towhook to a Porsche bumper is so amazing
Wait, Cessna? I thought you were talking about the Beechcraft Bonanza.
If you ever do a video game episode, I need you to come into it with the understanding that car licensing killed the mid budget racing game.
Weird Saab mentioned!
I love that the Buran Model is displayed by Victoria WITH A CAR on the launch platform 😁
Ok hear me out: take your giant model of the Buran, build it onto the chassis of a reliant robin. Drive the most bananas vehicle in Seattle.
I know Pelican 'cause they sell the Mahle oil filters I use on my bug...
"Kiss From a Rose" is the Seal song you're thinking of
“The German factory where they build 9/11s” 23:24
its strange to hear they allow american drivers on european roads without yhat much stuff when like. doesnt america have kinda different signage and like kinda different traffic signals ? like i know in parts of america atleast you cannot have a situation where an intersection has both traffic lights and a set of signs that contradict them wheras in poland this is normal becaude youre supposed to just ignore those signs unless the lights are off or broken. But an american driver id imagine get real confused by that
Jesus Christ woman. I like space stuff but holey moley.
If my partner brought a museum-quality Buran model home, I'd stay with her forever 💜. UN-fortunately I'm the partner that would be abandoned. Because I'd be the partner who'd bring home a museum quality model of any number of things 😇
Please say you talk about the movie Risky Business in this. It's one of my absolute favorites.
🎼Just take those old Matchboxes off the shelf...
