Episode 5: Strap In Girls It's Time For An Episode About Private Equity
On this episode of Tran Girlismo it's time to break down the First Brands collapse, so strap in for the most transgender explanation of shadow banking and private equity you'll hear this week. Also, Jordan fills Victoria in on Renault/Alpine's F1/WEC implosion. Then we exercise our right to make this podcast a little bit of a photography show because we wanna, and talk about private equity again in the context of the Kodak Alaris/Eastman Kodak split and the surprising direct distribution of Ektar and Ektachrome!
Kodak if you're listening we'll both sell out for a pallet full of Ektachrome :)

Single digit on the RAADS-R?! That's honestly impressive, as someone who pretty regularly administers that to clients.
insane timing, i just got my first ever roll of film scans sent to me yesterday lol
As a trans girl over 50 I got enough of film and film processing back when that was just how photography worked! Also, I remember just buying the film and chemicals as a routine normal product from a vast assortment of products from a bunch of manufacturers and the idea of what little is available now feels frustrating to even contemplate. But I used to do E6 processing at home in the bathroom. And the old T-Max reversal processing kit was super fun, beautiful B&W slides with no dyes, the image is silver.
Holy shit did Jordan call it on Smiling Friends
From her lips to God's ears
I am absolutely loving the podcast!
I wonder if it's spelled James "Sea" Barnacle Jr
God hearing apolo group mentioned brings back memories of them doing a hostile takeover of the first company I worked for (rackspace) and laid off 33% of the company immediately. They also did a leveraged buyout and completely raided the company's assets, and then put the company back onto the public market where it floundered for a couple years and got delisted
Trans girl financial news podcast
Home color dev isn't too bad. You just have to babysit it more than b&w. I've been out of the game for a minute, film was starting to feel expensive in 2019 and I would probably cry if I looked at prices now.
Patrick James ... What would Solo Wing Pixy do?
Alfa actually made a really capable, technologically advanced Jeep in the 50s called the Matta. It's the predecessor to the more successful Italian jeep, the Fiat Campagnola. They only made like 2200 of them between the military and civilian version. DOHC 4 cylinder derived from the 1900 sedans, suspension tech from their F1 cars, and ~it won its class in the 1952 Mille Miglia~ because for who-knows-why they decided to have a military vehicles category that year (and only that year). The name basically translates to "Insane" in Italian.
TBH Fram had been questionable for some time now, when I switched to a Mahle oil filter from Fram HP1s, my oil suddenly stayed clear past 1,000 miles
Ugh car parts. I've been a mechanic for a decade at this point, and one of the most annoying aspects is that it is increasing impossible to get parts that aren't fucked up. I've had to put a dozen shocks on the same car because they were either immediately bad or went bad within a week. Once I put seven radiators in a truck because they were all damaged by the shipper. My tin foil hat theory is that car manufacturers aren't selling new cars so they are making it impossible to repair you old car thereby forcing people into overpriced garbage that honestly doesn't work any better that what you have now.
Why is everything Penn Central now?
Ok Jordan's RFK impression is uncomfortably good. I hate/love it
I think the police and ice are the only things keeping Stellantis alive and they're definitely getting the #1 chud car company bailout
i've been to hooters exactly once and it was the /original/ hooters. i was bored and we didn't have anything better to do. the wings were like fine? it's pretty unremarkable except for how much that particular building feels like it's about to disintegrate into tampa bay.
Oh gosh, we went because it seemed actually mostly harmless and wanted to thumb our noses at the uptight goobers at our Baptist college who were trying to make it out to be a big, evil thing. (Like, sit down, Baylor, and maybe take sexual assault seriously?!) It was a brand-new Hooters and I remember the Three Mile wings were pretty good. That's it, though. Y'know, Femboy Hooters needs to happen, not necessarily because the Worst People at Baylor would be apoplectic, but that would be a hilarious bonus.
In regards to every American company's role in war crimes, wasn't the film in the U2's camera a special Kodak-Eastman project?
yeeeEEEEP! lmao
Okay I am laughing out loud listening to this on the SEA to PDX train (for transexual bonus points) and I’m worried the chatty hippy chick across the aisle is going to ask me what I’m listening to. How could I even explain lol.
Oh I feel that about working at NASA. First job out of grad school was at Marshall SFC and there are entire buildings you can't drink the water in because of ground contamination.
Working on Superfund sites is a fun risk adventure where you get to play the game "will this site give me cancer before or after I retire?"
Victoria how much did Private Equity pay off your wife to try and silence you?
one package of yakisoba noodles I believe
