Personal Update

Hi all,

I wanted to provide an update on what’s going on with me and what’s going on with mod updates.

I had been hoping to have updates to Gay Archetypes and Muscle Worship out this month in preparation for the Gainers and Feeders reboot. I’ve also been doing some deeper research and brainstorming for the BDSM aspects of Gay Archetypes for a future update (not the next one) to make dom/sub interactions as well as Lot traits like Leather Bars feel more authentic and flavorful. This would me a complete overhaul of the various different dom/sub social events and autonomy, flavorful dialogue (in a way that ideally wouldn’t be too repetitive). I’m literally reading books on leather culture (such as “Urban Aboriginals”) and getting feedback from friends in various scenes. This research is also gonna go towards Like Animals, which had been put on pause the last couple months so I could get an update out.

I’ve mentioned previously that technical issues from the game itself that have contributed to slow progress, so I won’t go too far into that. Suffice to say constantly changing (and breaking) Autonomy makes it difficult to playtest Autonomy (which is already a slow and finicky thing to mod and playtest.) Updates breaking the games ability to load mods or boot up all together certainly hasn’t helped either. There was one day, even before these recent updates where my game crash no less than 6 times before I determined that that particular test save was broken beyond repair and had to start a new one. Considering that I prefer to set up test saves through actual gameplay and not through cheating so that I can catch things that happen along the way, starting new test saves are a huge time sync.

Unfortunately real life has been a larger contributor to the delays than even EA’s antics. I’ve been intermittently sick with a bad cough since December. It cleared up for a few weeks, and then came back for a vengeance. It’s cleared up again but now I don’t know for how long. Right as I got sick the second time, I found out that my household had three weeks to move (luckily just across the street) and I’ve already spent two of those three weeks sick. We have gotten an extended deadline, (because legally my landlord was supposed to give us 30 days notice) but that’s still now about to take up a huge chunk of time.

And then last night my cat died under very shitty circumstances that has left me at odds with my family (with whom I’m about moving) which has made the situation way more difficult. It wasn’t a burden but I had been the one solely caring for her the last few years (she was old, her dying was expected) and I didn’t get to say goodbye and be there when she was put down.

To be blunt I’m a wreck right now. I had lowkey been a mess even before this happened. Between the sickness and the moving and being anxious to put out updates for you all my ADHD has been at its worst. But this has just left me completely (mentally) paralyzed.

I feel like this is a thing all modders apologize for unnecessarily but I am genuinely sorry updates are taking so long and that they’re likely to take even longer with all that’s going on right now.

I hope than when I do put out the next couple updates, you feel they were worth the wait.
