New | The Box
Happy Richard Kuly!!! In this first (and last) observance, Miles & I will be watching all three movies in the directorial filmography of Richard Kelly: Donnie Darko, Southland Tales, and The Box... but because he really peaked with his first film, we will be watching in reverse order to build up to the big one. Finally, to wrap up the festivities, we will watch the straight-to-DVD Donnie Darko sequel that Richard Kelly has nothing to do with and neither Miles nor myself have ever dared watch!
We also dropped a brand new highlight video for Independents' Day with Benji & Rizzo of The Pink Popcast, and they dropped a video on their channel that I joined them for in which we watched Legally Blondes (note the 's' at the end of that title...)
And that's not all! I was on this week's Perfect Person Platinum and Miles, Ashleigh, & I discussed Wangers Karaoke a bit (fun fact: Miles' producer Ashleigh filled in last minute for a camera op who bailed!) before calling back someone who left a voicemail about poop over a year ago. One of my fav PPP eps I've been on, don't miss it!
FINALLY... don't forget... to PAY THE GHOST!!! Our commentary track for this dumbass Nicolas Cage flick just turned 10 years old which means it's available to download for free. Enjoy!
Hope you have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!!! 🇺🇸

geeking over a donnie darko track on the horizon
Are any of these are blind commentaries ?
Wait this is actually fucking insane, I just resubscribed a couple days ago and was thinking to myself how much I wished you had a Southland Tales track. I fucking LOVE that movie. I own a hardback of the comics signed by richard kelly too! There's a set of comics that essentially act at the part 1 and 2 to the story, as the movie is meant to be part 3. Maybe you know all this already, maybe you dont, but Im so fucking excited!!!
Oh my god I been waiting for a SouthLand Tales track!!!!
Will it be theatrical cut or director cut of Donnie Darko? Or is it a suprise and find out when the track is released? (Good thing I own both and YouTube has both)
surprise!
Holy shit, Southland Tales is the most incoherent messes I've ever seen in my life. I swore I'd never watch it again but you've dragged me back in. You better belt out All The Things I've Done when it plays
My commitment to Sparkle Motion has never swayed 🫡
Eric on Perfect Person Platinum and Miles on the new track in one day? Blessed
His completely nuts script for Holes before Disney decided to just have the book’s writer adapt it himself is surprisingly easy to find online, and well worth checking out to see how bad it could have been.
donnie darko needs a stu stone cameo 😂
👀
Ive never seen donnie darko or southland tales, am i still safe from spoilers to watch this commentary?
totally safe from spoilers for Southland Tales, but Donnie Darko likely not
