N-CURVE COMP v1.5, N-BLUR/DIFFUSE and PLUGDATA 0.9.3 Updates ✨
Hey! Hope you're all doing well! :)
I wanted to give you some updates on upcoming Plugdata Patches and the soon-to-release PLUGDATA version 0.9.3!
1: N-CURVE COMP v1.5 - releasing when PLUGDATA 0.9.3 drops!
I've been working on a new version of N-CURVE COMP that takes advantage of the new resolution scaling features of the upcoming PLUGDATA 0.9.3 update, allowing for 2x the resolution at any zoom! No more blurry MacOS or Windows Scaling GUI! 🥳✨
N-CURVE COMP v1.5 will feature a reworked UI, 2x Resolution scaling and a brand new RAW and SAFE mode, which switches between raw fast compression and Lookahead smoothing, which enables distortion-safe compression! 🥳
N-CURVE COMP v1.5 SAFE MODE vs RAW MODE ⚔️
Downward Compression + Upward Inflation targeting -6dB, comparing SAFE and RAW Modes at 0ms attack, which makes N-CURVE COMP effectively a target limiter! 🥳
This update is pretty much ready to go, but PLUGDATA 0.9.3 needs to release first for the new resolution scaling system to work with the new ui of N-CURVE COMP v1.5! :)
2: N-BLUR/DIFFUSE - early prototype + WIP GUI - coming soon!
I'm also working on another plugdata patch that i've always wanted to have in my arsenal, a brute-force, raw reverb that blurs / diffuses a sound without the inconsistencies of a regular reverb effect.
This is N-BLUR/DIFFUSE (WIP) ⚔️
N-BLUR/DIFFUSE is a Diffusion Network/Reverb consisting of 16 Allpass delays, with no tricks, modulations or shortcuts. It then distributes those delays over time and lets you use feedback to effectively interpolate the input, causing consistent, predictable audio diffusion/smearing.
When sound designing, we want consistency, predictability and finegrain control over our sounds. N-BLUR/DIFFUSE is focused on blurring sounds without introducing coloring, modulations or inconsistencies/chaos, it smears sounds while trying to be spectrally unbiased.
Diffusion is a great way to transform otherwise textural or transient heavy sounds into softer, potentially metallic sounds that would otherwise be difficult to synthesize. I'll be showcasing more use-cases and examples in the future!
Most reverbs are made to be efficient at diffusing and creating space, not being surgical at short-time diffusion and time smearing, which makes most reverbs difficult to implement into consistent sound design chains, especially when used for Diffusion and not reverb applications.
N-BLUR/DIFFUSE provides a brute force high resolution reverb that you can use to diffuse a sound from sub 1ms up to 600ms!
Feature overview:
BLUR/DIFFUSE: Adjusts the amount of diffusion
FINE: Finegrain control over the blur amount, can be integral to finding the right diffusion timings depending on sound source.
STRETCH: Adjusts the time distribution of the reverb network
LATENCY: Adds plugin latency compensation so you can delay sounds back in time, compensating for the added delay from diffusion
BAND SPLIT: Split the Lowend from the mids/highs so that sub frequencies are unaffected
Here's some early prototype examples (NO GUI):
If you have suggestions or questions regarding N-BLUR/DIFFUSE, please write them in the comments below this post! :) I'd love to hear your ideas! ✨
NOTE:SPEC COMP will release soon after 0.9.3 release! I need some more time to polish it and converting it to 2x resolution is taking some time! 👀
3: PLUGDATA 0.9.3 (COMING SOON)🥳
Lastly, i wanted to thank you all again for the continued support! I've taken the majority of this month to help the developer of PLUGDATA report, find and troubleshoot all currently known bugs in 0.9.2 and i'm excited to report that pretty much all issues have been fixed/addressed! 🥳
Not only that, but the developer Timothy was kind enough to include the improvements to Resolution scaling and support for 2x resolutions, which means i'll be porting all my relevant plugdata patches to this new resolution system, including the close-to-release SPEC COMP plugdata patch!
Once Plugdata 0.9.3 is released, we can potentially expect the VST3/CLAP exporter to be ready soon after, which will hopefully help make the patches more accessible to people who want to use just the patches as standalones! 🥳
Thank you all again for your support!! 🙇♂️⚔️

Hey! Loving your plugdata effects so far, but I've noticed a small visual glitch in all your effects shows yellow/orange border lines around the knobs, sliders, and graph area that don't seem intentional. I checked other plugdata effects from different creators and this doesn't happen there, so it seems specific to your plugins. Is there any way I can make these changes on my end?
Hey yes! Seems the compiled mode accidentally enabled! Open Plugdata and click on the hamburger menu icon on the top left. Then, untick the Compiled mode box! :)
Seriously, thank you so much for all you're doing!
