Meet my new camera and see what it’s capable of

Meet my new camera kit: the phenomenal Canon EOS R5mii which incorporates the latest Canon mirrorless technology.

It’s a 45 megapixel camera - nearly double the resolution of any of my previous cameras, all of which were 24 megapixels - that it’s capable of shooting 8K raw video. It boasts a huge array of features that I must admit I find baffling but I am making an effort to learn them so as to make full use of its amazing photo and video capabilities. This is certainly a major investment in my model photography, even before one considers my simultaneous investment in the new RF 28-70mm f2.8 IS STM lens - a brand new zoom lens from Canon that has received many excellent reviews which I opted for as an alternative to the bulkier RF24-100mm f4.0 prime lens which I acquired last summer with my first mirrorless camera - the Canon R6mii. So far I’m very impressed by this lens and the flexibility that gives me to make better compositions than my fixed focal length lenses - including the recently acquired RF 85mm f2.0 Macro IS STM lens - a beautiful portrait lens - without any visible deterioration in quality.

I have only acquired the EOS Canon R5mii with the new zoom lens on 13 August and I have started using it on 16 August during my shoot with Anastasia in Frankfurt, Germany (last two photos in this set).

Like last year, it took me a few weeks to appreciate the capabilities of the new camera. But unlike last year, I’m now so impressed by the new camera and particularly its low light and high dynamic range capabilities that it’s rapidly becoming my first choice camera to shoot. I now only revert to my R6 mii in very few circumstances, when I’m not sure how to best deal with a challenging shooting situation and I want results quickly.

As a result of my latest acquisition, I now have far too many cameras. I still have my non-mirrorless full frame Canon EOS 6D mii and the half-frame but fully capable EOS850D together with its predecessor Canon EOS 800D.

Since I now need to rationalise my camera kit, I am putting the 850D for sale at £420. This comes in its original box with the EFS 18-55mm IS STM lens. See photos 2 and 3 in this post. I acquired it in May 2022 as a backup for a malfunctioning camera on a trip but have hardly used it since - the lens in fact is totally unused and is still in its original packaging. This camera kit is selling at £719 on Cotswold cameras and its list price is over £1000 (although it’s now discontinued). Anyways, I am willing to consider offers on it, as I simply not have enough space for cameras and lenses I no longer use. In any case, here’s the link to the Cotswolds cameras listing

I’m sure all this is very boring for many of you and I am therefore going to spicy it up with some examples of what the new Canon EOSR5mii is capable of, so I am adding a few photos created with this camera to this post.

As this is a public post, the photos do not contain any nudity. You can, of course, find nude photos with most of my models behind the paywall.

The models, in order of appearance, are as follows: Katherine, Giulia, Brigitte, Eva Kann, Kira, Aphrodita (aka Marrina), Leanne Overton and Anastasia. All of them, with the exception of Leanne, shoot to nude or higher levels.
