CELEBRATION + ROGUE PRINCESS 0.401 + MINI DEV LOG

Hi! That's a big title. Thank you everyone for helping me reach my goal! I technically reached it with the combined earnings from both sites, but on Substar the big red box on the side here is screaming for celebration since it was the first site I relied on.

It's been a little over a year since I started this! For 10 years I've been an artist who just posts on social media and disappears, so it goes without saying I've experienced a lot of culture shock from this sort of work!
"what the hell, people actually know all this character/setting stuff that was mostly trapped in my head until now??"
"people are actually invested in my work and leave detailed feedback instead of just 'nice drawing'??"
It's amazing how much games can connect someone to a creator's work sometimes, regardless of what type of game it is.

The funny thing is, this started as sort of an accident! I had moving plans in late 2024 that resulted in something like "well I have the lotty's adventure demo laying around that i've been making on and off for a while, might as well start building this up before i move so i have a backup plan until i land a job!"
..That move ended up falling through, and I ended up in a weird spot where I was now working my job at the time while working on these games. It sucked! Eventually, I made enough money that get by without my other job and I began doing this full time.

Now we're here... I never expected to get this far, and especially end up with a job I love so much!!!

It may be a little bit pretentious, but my goal with all of this is to make H-games that mean more to people than being "just porn games", and hopefully inspire some to try some weirdo stuff with their H-games! I haven't quite hit my stride with this vision yet other than making the games relatively challenging, but you'll see :)


ROGUE PRINCESS 0.401

• Made it so that defeating enemies has a chance to raise player skill and Athena's respect depending on the enemy's HP amount

• Added a platform to a tier 1 level to make it a bit easier

• Slightly reduced Sentina's attack frequency

• Made access to Chivalry a bit easier with more lenient switch timing

• Added a "counter me!" sign to the tutorial dummy

• Fixed a startup crash 

• Fixed some typos

• Fixed some pause bugs

• Removed translation testing files cause it just confused people

• Manually removing the GMLive folder from now on as it seems to scare folks and has been apparently flagged as a false positive virus. If I forget, you can remove the folder with no issue! For context, it's a hot reloading tool for gamemaker that runs on a local server, I mainly use it for prototyping UI

There are a bunch of other, mostly older bugs I just haven't gotten around to yet that I intend to fix soon.

What now?

As I've said in the previous dev log, I plan on being a lot more relaxed with the uploading schedule and just work on updates for whatever game I'm feeling strongly about at the time now. I feel like this will be far more productive instead of only sticking to one at a time!

Some updates may still take a long time though, and I'll warn about that ahead of time.

Unless there's some crazy crash I find out about, I'm gonna take a break for a bit (under a week) and see where to go from there, but afterwards I'll make a real dev log :)

Anyways, check out this old ass Lotty's Adventure build from late 2022. I had this game on the backburner for a while until I released it. That character in black is a placeholder since the game's framework was copy/pasted from a SFW game I worked on. That's why some strange files show up if you data mine the project.
