I’m not edge but I steal straight edge valor because all my favorite bands are straight edge haha. Hardcore (punk) was sorta a bunch of hardcore bands separating themselves from punk culture and setting themselves as the more political, less into partying, loud clothing, etc and straight edge is like a more extreme continuation on that. Back in the day you had hardline edge people who were really fucked, they were like pro life, militarily vegan, fucked up beliefs that have been left behind. Current straight edge is like half former addicts who are super cool and will beat your ass at a show, and kids that have always been sober and will beat your ass at a show. Edge bands are super popular right now because their music is hard and scary and they put on insane shows; bands like xweaponx, inclination, magnitude, world of pleasure, gods hate, harms way, are all insanely good and edge bands. Also they might be into edging and gooning
