We Need Your Help!

We are hard at work coming up with ideas for some of our upcoming monthly content and wanted to get some community feedback!

This desert is characterized by ancient crumbling cities, swaths of sweltering sunlight, and of course, lots and lots of sand. But that's all pretty standard right? And we want to bring you something unique. Often that starts with a name. For this poll, we are asking patrons to vote on what this scorching region should be called.

In addition, we wanted to share some of our ideas on what could make this desert unique, if you have anything to share about these ideas, or if you have ideas of your own please feel free to share them in the comments!

>A humanoid scarab beetle race or scorpion race

>Massive cities filled with traders who jealously protect the springs the cities are built around

>Huge deposits of ore and precious materials held within objects that have fallen from the sky, buried in the sands

>Sand Surfer, player subclass

>Scorching sun environmental effects

>Iconic new monsters and mounts

>The Scorched: Undead creatures spawned from dehydration

>Dessicant liches, that turn creatures into pillars of salt
>A mummified creature template (Imagine a mummified dragon!)

Definitely love “White Seas”! - There’s already a game or company called Rhune, let alone “Rune” - Flipping “Thule” to a desert is brilliant, but I don’t know if enough people will get the joke. Sandsurfer with a “giant earthworm” mount?

There was a super cool purple worm riding class in dnd 3.5 maybe we could do something like that, would be pretty awesome

I'd like a humanoid scorpion 🦂 player race. That would be awesome. Must include tail, unarmed strike + poison damage. {~_~}

This is moving outside of the naming conversation but a feature that I think would help this stand out could be a area called the Black Oasis. Where its an area that was once a flourishing small community around an oasis before some fire related event occured and turned all the sand around the area into glass.

That is a really cool idea, would make for a fun adventure location

I’d love to see a focus on djinn trapped in natural formations and maybe a system on how to capture and command them magically.

Give these Celestial Liches/Mummies Scorching Ray as a bonus action. Dispel Water Magic/Water Magic Item use as a Reaction/Immediate Interrupt to water attacks (with Advantage). Vulnerable to water damage (not necessarily Cold). Disadvantage to saves vs Clerics/Druids/Witches with access to the Sun Domain or worship "The Sun" God/Goddess (a la Japan's Amateratsu or the Norse's Sol).

(City name) Amen-Ra's Wrath a.k.a. (City name) Ra's Wrath- Celestial Lich/Mummy (siege monster even with spells). A la Lot's wife Ado looking back at Sodom during it's destruction by the Angels. Desiccating Aura 1 at 1st-Level; 2 at 5th-Level etc. etc. until Aura 5 at 20th-Level in squares: Anyone who observes (not necessarily with sight alone) Ra's Wrath do damage to a creature or object must make a Con save (I'll leave the DCs to you). 1st failed save: Slowed; 2nd failed save: -2 to: to hit, AC, & saving throws too. 3rd failed save: Become pillar of "salt" (perhaps not literally). Any magic that can undo petrification can end this effect.

The Scorched, Dessicant Lich, and mummy templates would be really helpful for a dessert setting and sound really cool

Sand sailing craft on the dunes! With runners on the keel of the ship and a mage with air spells or tame elementals, you could have traders racing across the sands to escape monsters, thieved and worse

That's a great idea! Reminds me of the sand benders from Avatar the Last Airbender
