WIPWednesday - the Book Wyrm

Hey Critical Crew!

We've got a first-look at what's to come next month with "The Stairs of the Spire". This lonely tower sits on the edge of the Hollow Expanse and holds within it a seemingly never-ending span of floors that houses libraries, collections of magical items and artifacts, holding cells for magical creatures, and sights beyond your players' wildest imagination! One of the creatures within its halls is our latest dragon, the Boom Wyrm! Check out this sneak peek and excerpt from it's for WIPWednesday!

"...Book wyrms are not born or constructed in any traditional sense. They are instead formed from the accumulation of written knowledge left too long in places where magic gathers and thought lingers. In the vast libraries, forgotten archives, and deeper floors of The Aspired's Spire, loose pages, scrolls, and bound volumes may begin to shift, fold, and bind themselves together, forming serpentine shapes of layered text and stitched narrative.

Book wyrms are fiercely territorial, though their territory is not defined by land, but by information. A book wyrm may claim a library wing, a sealed vault, or even a single irreplaceable manuscript, coiling its paper-bound form around its chosen domain. To a book wyrm, knowledge is alive, and must be protected from misuse, misinterpretation, or removal. Those who attempt to steal from one often find themselves disarmed not by force alone, but by the creature’s uncanny ability to strip them of the very texts they seek...."
