I love how we went so off the rails from Death Note with Shinigami kaiju earlier, and now we see the focus somehow go back to actual Death Note with the quest to get L's real name but it's for an Anti-Life Note, and then it goes crazy again with L successfully outbargaining God and becoming a ghost.

So this is for sure a troll fanfic right? Theirs no way someone unironically wrote this?!

Whenever I watch this show I'm constantly trying my absolute best to follow everything that's happening in this story, like who's named what, who wants what and everything else and after every episode I feel like I know less of what the hell is going on than I did at the start

For anyone curious, the character Arin is (likely) referring to at the end is Drizzt, Do'Urden, who has a pet panther, not dog. The only other one it could be is Mordenkainen, who does have a spectral dog in his art, but no apostrophes in his name.

First thing I thought of when they said "Anti-Life Note" was the Anti Life Equation from DC

rambling, poorly-written stories like this cause such beautiful and weird moments of queer affirmation. Night cutting her hair and get a tattoo saying "I'm a guy" immediately causes L to accept that proclaimed identity as fact to the point of being attracted to her in a gay way, even though he just saw her 2 seconds ago. even the author calls it "gay sex", despite the fact that everyone reading the fic knows she's lying. kinda beautiful.

This is some of the most X-treme! stuff ever written. I love it.

I'm excited and terrified to see how many different kinds of Notes we end up with by the end of this fic.

I actually read the "Beyond Birthday" book like 15 years ago. It was a novel (just text, not a graphic novel) that told a story of a murder mystery that L has to solve. It takes place before Death Note, and yes, it is technically official/canon though I don't think it had any connections to Death Note besides the fact that it features L. I literally can not remember anything about the story other than there is indeed a character whose name actually is Beyond Birthday. Not a nickname. Supposed to be their actual real name. I can't even remember what the actual name of the book cause I don't think it's "Beyond Birthday". Edit: Yeah it's actually called "Death Note: Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases".
