Duck Defense v1.2

"Weapons & Tactics" Update Review

If v1.1 made the skies dangerous, v1.2 hands you the tools — and the decisions — to fight back. This update is all about depth: real weapon choice, ammo you have to manage, difficulty levels that reshape the whole run, boss fights every five waves, and a scoring system that finally gives you something to chase. It's the biggest mechanical shift the game has seen. Here's everything that's new.

A Real Weapon System

The single pistol with infinite bullets is gone. You now carry a gun with a magazine and a reload, and you can buy and switch between four distinct weapons in the shop:

Pistol — the reliable starter. Eight rounds, a quick reload, balanced fire rate. Never a bad choice.

SMG — a 22-round magazine and a blistering fire rate. Built for swarms and the chaotic climax surge, at the cost of a longer reload when the mag finally runs dry.

Magnum — five heavy rounds that hit for double damage. It one-shots the armored ducks that used to eat two bullets, and it chews through boss health fast. Slow to fire and slow to reload, so every shot has to count.

Shotgun — comes with a built-in spread, hitting multiple targets at once. Small magazine, so it rewards picking your moments.

Ammo management is the new tension. Run dry and your gun auto-reloads, leaving you briefly defenseless — or you can reload early on your own terms by tapping the ammo counter or pressing R. Suddenly "which target first?" isn't just about priority; it's about whether you have the rounds to deal with it right now. The HUD shows your current magazine and flashes when you're running low or reloading.

Difficulty Modes

Before each run you now pick a difficulty, and the choice sticks between sessions:

Normal is the classic experience. Hard speeds up the ducks, makes their eggs hit harder, and packs the waves tighter. Nightmare pushes all of that further and starts you with a weaker house — for players who want the game to genuinely fight back. Higher difficulties also multiply your score, so the risk pays off on the leaderboard. It's a low-friction way to make the game fit both newcomers and veterans without touching anything else.

Boss Waves

Every fifth wave is now a boss fight. A giant duck warlord descends with its own health bar and cycles through three attack patterns: raining a volley of eggs across your roof, summoning ducklings to swarm you, and diving down to slam the house directly. You whittle its health with every hit — and this is where weapon choice matters most, since the Magnum's extra punch turns a long grind into a quick execution.

Beat the boss and you claim a big gold-and-score bonus and end the wave early. Let the timer run out with it still alive and it escapes, taking a chunk out of your house on the way. Boss waves are the update's marquee moment and a clear difficulty checkpoint every five levels.

Score & Personal Bests

Everything you shoot now feeds a score, scaled up on the harder difficulties, with bosses worth a hefty chunk. The game tracks your best score and best level separately for each difficulty, so a Nightmare record sits apart from a Normal one. Your bests show up on the main menu, in the shop between waves, and on the game-over screen — a simple, persistent goal to keep beating.

How It All Fits Together

These systems reinforce each other. Ammo scarcity makes the combo system from v1.1 riskier to sustain, since a wasted reload can break a streak. Higher difficulty means more gold pressure, which makes the Magnum-versus-SMG decision in the shop feel real. Bosses are the spike that tests your build and your aim at once. And the per-difficulty scoreboard ties it all into a reason to run it again — and again, one notch harder.

Under the Hood

Saves carry your chosen weapon, owned arsenal, difficulty, and score, so nothing is lost between sessions. As always, the game stays account-free and stores everything locally in your browser.

Balancing Notes

The new numbers are meant to be tuned. Reload timings, weapon prices, and boss health all live in a single config block, making them easy to adjust after playtesting. Boss health scales with level and difficulty, and the aim is a fight that's a real test without becoming a war of attrition — sharp aim and the right weapon should always beat it in time.

What's Next

With weapons, difficulty, and bosses in place, the campaign now has both a skill ceiling and a reason to replay. Future updates can build outward from here — think per-run perks you pick as you level, environmental hazards like wind and fog, and deeper weapon upgrades. For now: pick your difficulty, load up, and go meet the boss.

By the way, I should let everyone know in advance that version 1.2 has no animations or sex scenes. It only contains story content that will serve as the foundation for later versions. But I already have a plan — version 1.3 will have around 20 sex animations with Hinata, in a beautiful forest full of glowing mushrooms and fireflies at night... it’ll be very wild and wet...~~

So that’s why kimkun0162 added the casino to the game—to get more money; it was likely tied to the money aspect of the relationship with her, so that’s the reason.
