About character design

A short survey about which character design you like the most (for hybrids or just a regular humans). It would be great if you could explain why you’re drawn to a particular option. Personally, I like the version with the half-mask and the faceless one with natural hair. I guess the deciding factor here is the mysterious look and anonymity, the real hair in the faceless version creates an interesting contrast against the latex skin (completely bald heads only look good on no-name drones, in my opinion).

Just found your game and as big sci-fi lover I’m super invested. Im a bit late to this poll but might as well add some thoughts. Short disclaimer not completed it so ignore bad takes. Picked 4th option full Nox look Reason: I always find whenever I read/watch/play sci-fi content I get a slight annoyance of why everything is so humanoid. if it’s explained in universe I’m fine with it (game type is the obvious secondary reason) but then to build up on the potential weirdness, allure, fear factors to then say oh buts it’s got human eyes. I’m mean cool but why? Its completely different biological life form does it even need eyes? Hybrids leaning more to humanistic preference sure option 2 an attempt to seem human but uncaring ones like sparkle why does would she care at all about keeping any human aspect. (She’s represents a whole subgenre I get it but I think my point is still valid). As an example I point to atomic hearts ballerinas. Alluring yes do I understand them no (at the beginning) because no human facial features just body language makes them eerie. I think the balance would be hybrids wanting to be more human yeah have human features. Hybrids that don’t care should just be using everything to their advantage but I can see an argument of appearing human to trick other humans. P.S. Drones/Thralls or whatever they are called mindless Nox should just be Nox. Two exceptions for this 1. there is a in universe reason 2.That Reason being we get Terminator style story section which would be terrifying.(Or Alice from T2 Revenge of the fallen cause I’m ancient and it popped in my head)

Yeah, I think that faceless masks that cover the entire face also have their place in the sun. At the very least, they could be used to make a dynamic protective helmet for a suit that would protect the face from damage and also allow vision in different spectrums. And in general, having a suit on hand that could dynamically create or remove extra pockets or even an entire backpack would be cool. It's a pretty promising concept. As for the hybrids, I'd like to make most of them human-like, at least in terms of their faces. Other creatures will appear in the story that will be somewhere between hybrids and monsters, and they may not have to worry about their appearance at that point.

Half-masks have stayed cool since I was a kid. If a game has one as a cosmetic option. There's a good chance I already have it on. Bare face is fine too. Don't care for the last two though because they look.... off. If it was featureless it would be nice. Like a smooth mask. Or maybe full featured like Colossus from the x-men.

Half mask supremacy! Got it, thanks for reply.

How about something like this: https://ibb.co/album/tLwpTR In a kind of web pattern that comes from behind the head and extends a little through the temples, cheeks... but letting most of the face uncovered for fanservice xD with or without black eyes.

The second option strongly reminds me of Adam Jensen from Deus Ex with his iconic "I never asked for this", ahah. Of course, it looks cool, and I absolutely fucking love those thread-like things that wrap around the body. The only problem is that I still don't know exactly how to model that. Even if I manage to do everything right, I need to make those threads work with different tilts and head rotations. Plus, such things should ideally be in motion and change their shape — otherwise, it would look pretty weird if they're just frozen and not moving.

I like the second option the most but the problem is see here is if they are using it to hide their identity then its not really covering enough. Maybe add a hood or something that still obscures the top half of the head.

Yes, when it comes to anonymity, the more areas of the face and head that are covered, the better. A completely closed face with no visible features is the absolute winner in this case.

I prefer the half mask because you can see the eyes (it carries more expression). For the full mask with hairs, what would it looks like with visible eyes and latex patterns around them ?

You mean, to make it like a Black Cat mask?
