Newsletter August 2018 - Map Builder Reborn
Hello everyone! Continue reading to discover more information about the big update. Everything is still a work in progress!
Bringing unity back to Map Builder
The patron version will be renamed from Map Builder Creator Edition to Map Builder. The community version will still have the same name Map Builder IV. It’s important that users understand where everything is. Ultimately, I decided that a website would be the best solution. You can now find all of your downloads and information in one place, gtamapbuilder.com!
Improving quality and the overall experience
Each update for Map Builder will now be heavily tested before release. This means that most problems will be fixed before, not after. Another improvement is the removal of old objects that take up too many resources. Don’t worry, you can add them back through the new Add-Ons feature coming with the update. Online ReadMe files will now be easily translatable though gtamapbuilder.com. Map Builder FiveM will get improvements by making a new version with further file compression. Finally, I have completely reworked the DLC to make it as original as possible, and add performance.
Customized experience with Add-On Packs
You will be able to download all Add-On Packs through a single optional download. This includes more options for experienced users, plus the ability to experiment with extra content. I can also release different types of content without degrading the quality of the recommended default download. This means that all Add-On Packs will be optional, and they may cause unpredictable performance issues. Hopefully they do more good than bad, but we shall see!
A new Map Builder Beta
This new development path is sure to make the new Map Builder Beta stand out. First, all updates will go through the beta before release. The beta will be developed for SinglePlayer only, until actual release. This will help keep SinglePlayer and FiveM updates on the same track. The beta will include all objects, even Add-On objects. Unless they cause issues, then they will be removed. Ultimately, beta updates will be more frequent with changes.
A new wave of content plus new patron reward benefits
This may not seem like much on the surface. It may even feel like a step back at first. I think that a step back was needed in order to keep things moving in the right direction. This opens the doors for a new generation of content, and trust me, it’s on the way. Soon I will be adding some new benefits to the reward tiers. This will allow first time patrons to get the first download of Map Builder for $1! Loyalty benefits are also on the horizon. Annual patrons of 12 or more months will get the $20 tier bonus objects for free! You know who you are, and I thank you!
As you can see, much more content is on the way. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing community with me on this journey. Thank you everybody!
