"Who in the hell—!?" "It's me, Ian, from Eurogamer!"
Incredible news, guys! This week Ian Higton exceptionally moved forward his VR corner from the usual Sunday schedule to mid-week, for an episode entirely devoted to our latest VR conversion for FF7R!
This is so exciting []-D
I'm also very happy because many of you have been asking to see video footage of the game, and due to my tinkering with the mod until the very last minute before release I had been unable to give a preview copy to YouTubers. Here's almost 40 minutes of frantic combat and cutscenes ("Jessie! Wedge... Biggs.. but mainly Jessie!" — "And we're good!" "I love you... I mean, what!?")
Don't forget to like and subscribe, as Ian and all the people from Eurogamer and the Digital Foundry are doing such amazing work!!

Luke! BIG Thanks on this one, I am so late to the party but this one blew me away! Final fantasy in VR is the way to go... so glad i finally waited to play this until now
Also weird question but if I can get 120fps-- Should I set my valve index headset to 120hz? Or should I set to 120hz and force always on reprojection so that it's 60fps (while the game still shows 120fps). Also curious what others think? 2160x2160 @120hz? or 2736x2736 @90hz?
Absolutely don't force reprojection (SteamVR motion smoothing doesn't work with my mods). If you can keep a stable 120 fps in game, yes, it's best to set the Index refresh to 120 Hz for minimum AER ghosting
Thank you for the FFVII mod! I was wondering if there's an easy wway to use my ps5 gamepad to access the overlay and toggle mono/stereo and overlay and effects with the controller. I know pushing down on both thumbsticks is supposed to open up the overlay but that is not working for me. Elden Ring's quick menu using start+select on controller has always worked for me but I never got the gamepad to open the menu for RDR2 or FFVII. Enjoying it so far and just tweaking trying to get an acceptable 120fps as it looks so much smoother than 90. And I take it there's no way to get vrperfkit working with your mods? https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit
Thanks, Luke for reference and link about Far Cry 3. The Far Cry series was a huge part of my early gaming, I made a lot of maps. Far Cry 3 should be a lot less resource hungry for VR than the later games. It would be so much fun, really hope it gets made.
I would have liked Metro, it can be bought cheap.
Metro would have been fun for sure! I am not interested in spiderman flat but would definitely play in VR if that happens next. Definitely prefer something like Metro or Far Cry next though. It's a lot of pressure to pick just one game though when so many people are relying on you and throwing out things they want to play. We need more Lukes!!
Big thanks to you Ross! Honestly, this is the first game I can play comfortably without motion sickness. And this happens to be my number 1 favourite game :) Previously, I tried your mod on 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn and RDR2, but overall the performance was just not good enough to play. I was wondering if I could use this version on Horizon Zero Dawn, but it doesn’t seem to work.
Ian never fails !!!!
Lovely to see some positive exposure Luke matey👍. I will have a full night tonight to invest . I am so ready, FFVII PSX was a huge part of my youth I still have the original discs. I cannot wait. Is it a bit like senuas sacrifice in scale? Like are the characters full size? Or is there a way to play with scale like previous mods? I picked it up on epic store when the last sake was on but haven't played much flat screen (only vampire survivor on the steam deck 😂) Thank you again Luke.
Right back at you, WIG! Yep, absolutely everything is life-sized. The plates in the sky holding up the city over the slums are an incredible sight in VR. But there is also the usual world scale slider if you want to play with toyfication
