The Big One is coming!
In case you had any social lives left after Cyberpunk 2077, this is going to take care of that little problem for you. Modding it certainly took care of mine []-D
Soon! This will likely be a work-in-progress for quite some time, but I'll be doing my best to have a first playable version by the end of next week. Keep your VR legs in shape, because they're really going to be put to the test *_^
BIG kudos to Robert Zak from PC Gamer for his great article on the upcoming release: https://www.pcgamer.com/an-elden-ring-vr-mod-is-coming-and-we-have-some-footage/

When is the playable version available ?
Just watched the cas and chary vid. Mod looks similar to hzd with the rolling. She was strugling with it lol. If it gets to hzd level of imersion it will be spot on. But looks like the rolling needs some work
This is why I joined. Very excited.
Can't wait until the end of this week. Going to play my 4th playthrough in VR. :)
Did you beat this game three times already? O_O
I’m a noob. What do I need to download these mods as far as software. I have a steam account, and both the games on my PC. Thanks guys.
Wicksley, download the zip at the bottom of this post https://www.patreon.com/posts/solution-finally-64880625 find which folder the exe file is for your game. Unzip downloaded files into that folder. One of the files extracted will be named realconfig.bat. double click that file, it will install the mod. Start game after that and it will run in square mode on your desktop ready for VR.
Ghost Recon Wildlands could be something also... but I am happy and hope to get to play all the stuff we got in VR now :-) its gone be some time to get through them ;-)
Elden Ring is on sale at g2a.com for those of you that haven't already bought the game.
Hyped for EldenRing :) Btw. SteamVr for Pimax seems fixed for the Mods here. At least i cant see a difference anymore since the 277 PiTool Update - someone similar experience? :)
That's interesting! I couldn't get 277 to download. Luke, do you think think they fixed it? Can anyone else verify this I'll test this soon too. Man that would be stellar as then the sound would properly mirror to.
I'm finally getting around to playing CP77. Anybody know any must have mods with RealVR and CP?
there was one that I cannot find now that allowed you to ride the trams.
Elden Ring is easily the worst game in the last 30 years. One of only a few games I had to get a refund for. Bad graphics, bad writing, bad gameplay, bad story, etc. etc. etc.
This game is one of the best games I played in my 45 years of gaming and I'm not alone the game sold 12 million copies in less than a month.
Honestly I am just happy that the number of VR mods/moders is growing. I am hoping that some teams form instead of a bunch of individual projects so the quality of the ports keeps improving over the frequency.
I'll be happy just if they coordinate for not working 2 modders in different mods for the same game
I cannot wait for this to drop.
I could think of like a dozen games off the top of my head that would make better Vr ports than this. I unfortunately have zero interest in playing this. But it's amazing that you were able to do this so fast
I"d have to agree.... Dying light 2 WOULD be fun.
YES !"!!!!!!!
Dying Light 2 would be fun :)
Just stumbled opon this: https://github.com/LukeYui/launch_modded_eldenring Might be a good idea to use along when using the VR mod?
what is it
I bet he just had a lot of requests for it? I do think the far cry series would be a good pick next, gives an array of lesser graphically intense and more intense options. There is a fella currently trying to build a mod that will allow people to play and make profiles for UE4 games in VR, so that will hopefully bring a lot of options for high and mid level games :)
Brandon Booth: If that is what the people want, then it makes perfect sense that is the choice. I have heard about that UE4 profile maker, and have hope for that; it does remind me a bit of VorpX.
I applaud the mad skills and courage to take on such a tasking. What I do scratch my head about, though, is why a high end game like Elden Ring? Your previous posting on 'The State of VR' brings out a point of how VR is 'high end/expensive', thereby limiting its appeal to the wider masses. Until I can upgrade my rig to a higher-end graphics card, Cyberpunk is a pipe dream, and I'm confident Elden Ring would not be any better. I see you as being as potentially being an incredible influence on expanding VR access to a wider audience (e.g., those not having a RTX3000 or even a 2000 series card) as Meta is doing with the Quest.
because its a very popular game the biggest game this year,i would have loved god of war or something else too hell id be hapier with gta v ported over new framework but if this gets trending it will show developers that people do want this type of vr experience and might consider adding it themselves.
hey luke, i'm looking forward to your new vr mod but in the meantime i wanted to play some cyberpunk With my Pimax 8kx but i can only play with version v3_2_2 all the versions above that dont work. When i tried it i can get in the game but when i am in the game world the mini map in the right corner flies away and the hud is also gone i also can't read the conversations from the main story anymore. Please fix the issues and thanks in advance! your doing a great job for the vr community!!!
Hey Christian, must be something going on with your install. I'm able to play the latest version just fine on my 8KX. When using the latest version did you re-run the config bat file and try the deleting settings option?
I just bought a PSVR specifically to play this in cinematic mode! Thank you for taking this huge project on.
Will it be possible to smooth out the head bobbing? Also I know all the mods use Alternate eye rendering, but will it be possible at some point to have the game render without it? It really messes with my head when I tried some of the previous mods. I know you need to do it for perfomance reasons, but maybe with DLSS and next gen cards it will be able to push these types of games without AER?
Here's my two cents: I would prefer to have games that are originally designed with first person in mind to get a VR mod. I know Elden Ring is popular, but I am just not interested. We currently have entire series of potential top experiences: Far Cry, Metro, Bioshock, Crysis, Halo.... These I think should have priority.
I've been fine-tuning the first person camera all day, and I can tell you it works surprisingly well for a game that clearly wasn't designed with it in mind!
I've had never tried the Dark Souls games. Seeing this game in vr makes me want to give it a try.
Me too. I played, got flayed, never made it past the first boss.
I haven't bought Elden Ring because I just don't think I'd like it much. Never have been a fan of the dark souls difficulty formula. Good decision on giving it the VR treatment now though since it is a very popular game, but I do hope the next conversion is for something that is already played from the 1st person point of view. I'm still hoping for something like Kingdom Come or Far Cry series. Hope this turns out great for Elden Ring fans though!
Exactly the same ! I really could not care less about elden ring. I hate Souls game and I'll never play this dang game. Wish it the best tho.
Awesome! Another game I have, just not had the motivation to play all that much in 2d. Only thing I wonder about is its locked to 60 FPS. Wonder how that will work...
If you play in offline mode, there are programs you can use to circumvent the frame rate limitation.
Ill name my firstborn Luke Ross! Thanks so much its like a dream came true, cant wait!
Hahaha, that's what I call too much :-D
Goes off to buy Elden ring...
Fucking A! Still haven't played cyberpunk yet, but played the shit out of elden ring! Looking forward to do NG+ with this
Well get to work already ;-) don't forget Pimax users! Does elden ring use DLSS?
I think it was supposed to get ray tracing at some point so maybe dlss also. Could probably use fsr for now.
I played the original dark souls game years ago and loved it, it was very challenging but very rewarding and memorable so this should be amazing in VR. Mods of games with big fanbases like this one will be sure to convert a lot of people into VR gamers too. Well done Luke cant wait to try it.
omg....just earlier today,I thought to myself...just imagine Luke turning Elden Ring into a VR compatible port...I shook it off and thought no way, this wouldnt be possible....holy crap...this game is going to be terrifying in VR,the 2D version is frightening to me as is
I can confirm it IS pretty scary. It really sucks you in
How does rolling work?
With HZD (also native 3rd person) camera was kept stable and character model wasn't visible. It felt pretty natural actually
Looks great, but pls: Give us a dlss fix for cyberpunk. RDR2 is so much better with it.
I think he already said it was more work than it was worth. It is a much shorter game than RDR2. There will hopefully be dlc's but still. Hopefully in the future someone will figure out a solid VR antialiasing option.
Does happy dance! Hopefully my 2060 will be able to handle it.
I was hoping for either this or God of War. Can't wait. Thanks heaps.
I assume this needs to be played in offline mode?
Of course, yes. Once the mod is stable enough we might try to get it whitelisted, although I don't think we have enough visibility to achieve that
Great Work and Thanks Luke
Luke, this was the game I was hoping for the most. I didn’t think it was a possibility because you mentioned it wasn’t your type of game. I love playing this game on my TV and have almost 300 hours already, but I’m so interested to try this in VR. Some of the areas with huge insects will be super creepy and the boss fights will be insane. You couldn’t have made a better choice. I absolutely can’t wait for this!
Is today 1st of April ? :-O
I never play native quest games anymore because these mods are to good lol. Looking forward to elden ring :)
After more than 150 hours of this From Software "fun"... I still have to finish my first playthrough . I don't know how it could be playable/enjoyable in 1rst person mode. But thank you for this announcement... I Guess... This game is a stepstone in the history of gaming but I couldn't have played the whole thing in VR. The bestiary and the atmosphere of ER are way too depressing for this. I ll go for a full RDR2 VR run (never played the game) after beating that flat Elden beast ...
I love the series but I just don't think first person VR is good for them. If the camera could be made to be just like your characters eyes maybe so you could actually see your hands and weapon but HZD style is just not going to be good for first person weapon combat in this in my opinion. I guess I could respec as a magic user though. But kudos to you for doing it all the same :)
I completely agree! And as a matter of fact, this time I attached the camera to the character's head. If you look closely at the video, you should be able to see the bobbing that comes from it, especially when I walk fast. That's why I was commenting about the need to have our VR legs in top shape :-D I'm still tweaking it so that for instance you can actually do things like covering behind your shield. Of course third person will also be an option.
Oh will this have 3rd and 1st person options like your other mods?
Oh Luke one more question that you may have answered on the CP2077 posts, but are we good to use the Remote Desktop app now or does it still need to be wired for Quest 2?
For me, virtualdesktop performance was terrible. I tried it just a few days ago with the latest mod, and it stuttered to the point of being unplayable. i know it's supposed to work now so I'm probably doing something wrong
OMG, that is awesome! Thanks for this! I know you are still working out all the kinks/options but do you foresee gaze based movement like GTA V (hoping) or rotating the world with controller joystick only? (like Mafia trilogy)
I didn't think it was possible...
Neither did I! I'm still not sure that first person will work throughout the game, and there are quite a few wrinkles to iron out yet, but it's coming together
Oh my God, dude. I haven't even purchased this game because I'm knee deep in CP2077 and RDR2 right now, but I think this will be my next one after cyberpunk. And I haven't even touch HZD yet. Thanks!
I held off ... But now I will buy. How is performance?
It's very good in the dungeons, not so much in the open areas. Unfortunately the engine doesn't offer much in the way of customization, as most graphics options make very little difference in terms of performance. The game is still being actively patched though, so there's hope
Woah. That’s crazy. I’m a noob. I’m playing this on a 1440p monitor. First game in a long time. Not a gamer by any means. This game is so good. I’m figuring out how to do this. Got the quest 2 workin. Can I find a step by step in previous posts? I’ll look. If not, I’ll use YT and GOOG. Thanks, sir!!
Omg!!! I'm somewhat deep into this already. Will my saves still work? This will be amazing!!
They will certainly work!
Omg amazing, still in the 2nd level so the perfect time to switch it up a notch 😍🥳
