Ah, THAT’S why

You could still make the VR mod for Cyberpunk free with donations. So what’s your point?
DESS CORPO
(SIGH) looks like we are NOT getting a Flat2VR versions since CDPR has already made the GREEDIEST CORPO MOVE POSSIBLE, VR arcade "EXPERIENCE" what a load of crap
Yup, why a limited location-based experience gets their "permission", while a full VR experience from the comfort of your own home does not, is beyond me.
Hi all, really been enjoying KCD2 and has been fantastic experience so far with the exception of some immersion breaking distance foliage pop in and flicker. Is there any solution at all to fix this as I have tried numerous CFG fixes and mods to no avail. On the surface it seems like an easy fix with some distance draw settings but I am stumped. What confuses me is that i have seen videos of VR gameplay without this pop in. I have 5090 and all settings are ultra. Not game breaking but still annoying. Anyone here with similar issues?
Would love to see crimson desert in future, would look incredible with built in first person mode 🙏
I already bought it with the high hopes of getting a VR mod. :D If not, well then I wasted some money.
Anyone happen to have the version of the framework from before all the Changes? I have a game that will only work with that version.
Hi guys, but is the survey for the next games around?
No, Luke doesn't usually do surveys for games. You can just throw out suggestions if you have them. If something gets a lot of suggestions, he will sometimes give it a go.
A VR mod of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart would be cool.
I agree. I think that game would be fun in VR.
I do need help. I cant find the info file needed to realrepo.exe. Question: Is it possible to add a rightwards turn via looking aat a given angle to the side. I am currently using my paralyzed thumb.=)
I don't know what you mean by finding the file needed to realrepo.exe??? Are you getting an error when running the config file or something? For the second part, I don't know of any way of adding that currently without Luke doing something to add it to the framework somehow. You could use Steam Input or in game settings to try and get creative with button/controller mapping. Some games, the character will walk slightly in the direction you are looking, which could be helpful, but it won't turn that direction. The problem with adding something like, looking right at a given angle, is that people look around a lot in VR. So, it would probably cause issues where people end up turning when they don't want to. Those are my initial thoughts 🤷♂️ Some games, you may be able to turn your chair that direction and then aim/ADS. That would turn the character that direction.
I know that's not gonna happen but a VR mod for Planet Coaster 2, just for the park exploration part in 1st person would be so amazing. I got some user parks and it's impressive what some can build.
Maybe they will make an on-location experience 😋
Ghost of yotei and crimson would be insane in VR with REAL VR
What do you mean? Spiderman and Ghost of Tsushima are playstation games
Thanks for everything.
Hi Luke, hello Brandon, I'd like to wish you a very Happy Easter, and on this occasion I'd like to ask our incredible Luke if he can work on Crimson Desert... if he could also put first person, I don't know if it's already an option in the game, that would be AMAZING! Thanks guys, you're amazing!
Seeeriously; right now there's an absolute ton of people waiting to see if Luke, Mutar, or Praydog will be the one to give us 1st person Crimson Desert. I'm hoping it's Luke, as REALVR's efficiency and speed is just a lot better than the other options
Hello Brandon, here to bother you again with technical questions. As new high end headsets are coming out (such as the announced Pimax 12K which will have 6K resolution per eye) the Cyberpunk mod could really use Dynamic Foveated Rendering. Is that in Luke's To do list? Is it too hard to implement that on Cyberpunk or the REAL Mod to allow higher FPS?
The REAL "framework" not mod 😉 Don't think Luke has any plans on supporting foveated rendering for now. Maybe if it becomes more common across headsets. And maybe if Pimax takes some steps to fix things on their end for better compatibility 🙃
Hey Brandon, is there any confirmation one way or the other if Luke plans to fix the gamepass version of KCD2? Its ok if not, would just kind of like to know one way or the other so I can decide whether to get it on Steam or hold off for Luke since its on gamepass. Thanks!
I don't have confirmation for sure, no.
Hi Brandon, in Days Gone the mouse cursor won't go above the HUD section in the REAL overlay so I can't access the DG tab or anything above the HUD. Please advise.
Gamepad is recommended because of issues like that, where the window exceeds your monitor screen. Here is a handy navigation and resizing guide I made that covers some shortcuts that will help you get where you are trying to go. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UZt0Z-mzZC0-EEe2nseQRQrKcacd1phLaX2WRkyPGaY/edit?usp=sharing
So they make another cut-to-the-bones version of a decent game in order to then get disappointed with sales and claim that nobody cares about VR? What a great strategy!
"Notably, an unofficial mod was taken down earlier this year when the developer decided to cash in on it." - you don't hate games journalists enough
Did you try to contact CDPR and ask if they would leave you alone if access to REAL VR framework for cyberpunk was free? As far as I know, the free vorpx-based mod is still available, and free Project CyberpunkV mod on Nexus Mods is also available - so wouldn't CDPR also target those mods if their true purpose would be to "get rid of the competition"?
I think the main issue/takeaway for me, is that they were willing to make some sort of deal or give their "permission" for a VR experience that is absolutely stuck behind a paywall. You don't have to own the game or support CDR directly in any way to have the experience, but they are fine with it. When Luke tried to get them to make some kind of deal or do something official years ago. But they wouldn't even respond to him. Not to mention the R.E.A.L framework automatically supports them with additional sales at 0 cost or effort to them. It is a pretty hard kick in the nuts really. CDPR is no longer worth supporting in my book. After this move, I am now against the idea of Luke even restoring CP access for free. Those are my personal thoughts on the matter 🤷♂️
100s of hours of content in immersive VR vs a 1-3 hour experience - I mean, I can't imagine it's any longer than that when it's catered for beginners to VR as well - what with motion sickness etc. I know what I'd rather.
I swear on the grave stone of VR gaming, there will be named murderers; Facebook and CD Projekt Red; and people that tried resuscitating; Valve and Luke Ross.
There is also a farcry VR "experience" so you have to go to a location to be able to play it in VR which is what they are doing for CP. No thanks.
It only works if I can teleport to that location.
I love how the article frames the RealVR DMCA bullshit as "an unofficial mod was taken down when the developer decided to cash in on it". That's about the level of intelligence and reporting quality I expect of the gaming press these days, unfortunately. Probably couldn't be bothered to do more than ask ChatGPT to summarize a headline.
They were worried their VR arcade deal will get less attention if Luke’s VR mod stays available. Cut all the possible $$$ leaks. But people who visit VR arcades usually go for the social experience, not for serious VR. So banning Luke’s mod feels about as logical as shutting down ABC stores to help bars sell more drinks. It just does not make much sense. After this, my view of CDPR as a developer has definitely worsened. Still, money changes how people and companies behave. It pushes them to make choices they might not otherwise make.
I honestly think it's part of the "IP Monetization" department, or whatever they call it, and it's gotten so out of hand that they're not doing day to day approvals or reality checks. It sucks, but from the money perspective, someone cut them a check and gave them a cut, and I guarantee part of that deal required exclusivity. So I think the community may need to remind them a little bit that when you hand off things to the "Sales/Money" people, you're going to trash a bit of the good will of the community or even worse.
And to be clear, what they do is not Cyberpunk 2077 the game, it is a game like mini-experience, that is multiplayer IN the cyberpunk 2077 universe. So they probably gave them assets and have a small environment setup, with things geared towards a real world to VR overlay experience with mostly PVP style combat between experience participants. So Luke, I think the issue is you didn't offer to cut them a check for $2 million or whatever they paid for the rights to do the experience, plus some percentage going forward and agreement around publicity and advertising. Then the Corporate money types got involved, and part of the agreement probably required that they put the Kabosh on the Real Add-in 3D driver (NOT Mod.. lol) that happens to support the Cyberpunk game, because part of the agreement included exclusive rights to VR experiences within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, in exchange for the check that paid CDProject Red for the rights. Am I playing psychic well enough and giving a good guess?
Disappointing on so many levels. So they DO have an interest in VR after all. But just not for their actual customers who are asking for VR.
It's not an interest in VR, it's a money person looking to add to the stable of monetized Cyberpunk 2077 IP, which lately seems to be everything under the sun (some of it yes, quite good, but some of it just plain head scratching money grubbing. "Space balls, the lunch box!")
make big mad game about corpos being complete aholes ... proceed to be complete aholes IRL
It's just complete different environment. Both could exist without any negative impact on the other. If this really was or is the reason behind their so called legal basics, it's just silly stupid
And both can exist at the same time. CDPR just said that the VR mod had to be free with donations instead of paid upfront.
Possibly. Take the high road though, throwing mud doesn't help future prospects even if this stemmed from corporate suit nonsense.
I guess they were trying to neuter Luke's mod to stop comparison with their new VR thing. Because a Cyber Punk-style VR experience isn't comparable at all to full immersion in the real game. This whole thing has soured CDPR to me, when I was such a fan
Funny how CD Projekt RED is busy working on The Witcher 4… Meanwhile, over here please bring some magic to Crimson Desert VR mod 😉
These people at CD Projekt RED are complete idiots. This would be like banning DVDs years ago just because movie theaters exist. Clearly, there are fools everywhere. I really didn't like the sentence in the article that mentions you: "It should be noted that an unofficial mod was removed earlier this year when the developer decided to profit from it." It sounds very derogatory, and whoever wrote it must be very misinformed. Best regards.
Just to be snarky, I think you have the same case to sue zero latency then projekt red had to sue you.
Maybe you just gave them ideas...
https://www.techpowerup.com/347882/cd-projekt-red-partners-with-zero-latency-vr-to-bring-the-world-of-cyberpunk-2077-into-immersive-vr
Mate I was just about to send you this in your email....
Honestly what sort of competition would these two products have? If anything they could create synergy.. so personally, I don't understand the attitude in that office.
it's a different story, we play the original game in vr with a joypad, single player, that is a multiplayer experience in full locomotion, in a game that doesn't even have multiplayer at first, and where the lore or whatever related to the game has minimal impact on the experience, i mean it can be Doom or Peppa Pig, what's the point? will you immerse yourself in Night City and feel the game in a 1000 or whatever it is square feet room ? will you drive and talk with npc? in 15 minutes ? If this is the reason they're blind af
Lol. How many hundreds of hours did I put into CP2077 VR again?
I will support. Good to see your latest activities, Luke and Brandon!
I dont want to leave my house and pay to play it at a VR arcade. When I've got my own VR and was already playing it in VR at home. They so lame for this ngl
Ahhh yes, another bunch of short sighted corporate geniuses protecting their exclusive, multi-billion dollar baby. 🙄 I was at the Zero Latency in Tampa last year…it was dead. I hope this vision works out for them…These two things certainly don’t have to be mutually exclusive…they can coexist. Supporting you always Luke.
April fools, right? Except... the joke's on us...
To be fair, zero latency was good when I went with a few mates who hadnt tried VR. But there's no reason why both REAL mod and this can't exist in the same world
Yeah, it's different markets ... maybe your mates will want the R.E.A.L. experience after this XD
Zero Latency sucks. It's got nothing on high end PCVR.
It's very nice, short room-scale VR experices that can open the appetite for VR at home to many people !!!!
disingenuous idiots
After couple of posts about it, I don't remember any more, what is happening in the end for LukeRoss RealVR for CP2077? Is it totally out of the picture? Sorry for the dumb question, must have been mentioned already somewhere. BTW, another question, I know there is a VR support for Kingdom Come II , but would the first one be supported too? ;)
I have same question for both. Hoping the answers yes on KCD1 & Luke’s just giving CP2077 time to cool down.
CALLED IT!!!!
They should communicate around this. Not fair...
If CD Project had not did what they did, I will be, once again, thinking this team is really thinking about players because they are working to have a VR version of their flat games while no other devs will never bother to do that because not viable economically. But as I know what they did, I start to wonder if they had the idea themselve or if they stole the idea (and maybe the work also) of someone that did the thing they was not willing to do.
Is it free ? Or behind a paywall ?
It's onlocation paid experience, you go there and user their equipment, It's not available for download. Por people with PCVR it's not worth it, it's a 15min experience with room escale locomotion, at home it would be underwhelming. But for going with flat friends it's perfect, they don't get sick.
It seems this is the dirty reason. The developers only want money; the players don't matter. This experience is nothing compared to your hard work.
Makes sense...
Copy Paste
All because they plan to release a 30 minute experience at a vr Cafe? Seems a bit rude
At least they something in VR ...
Groan... After all that...Well I'm still playing cyberpunk in VR anyway.. thanks for the experiences you've given us Luke.. and here's to hoping you enjoy Crimson Desert enough to take it on someday (giggle)!
Hahahaha well tbh it's better than no reason other than "legal"!
Shocker! Which came first the chicken or the egg, successful development of vr mod by talented and competent but independent developers or are we meant to believe it was always in the pipeline by the games developers. Personally, I'm skeptical, I think this is reactionary. Keep up the excellent work Luke
Hi! Exactly, I saw the publicity yesterday and I think you inspired somebody here!!! But still, if I can’t play it in my house it is not of your level of greatness!!! Love you Luke!!! ❤️
Dirty corpos
